Default More LN-T4061F Problems

I'm starting to think my PS3 is going bad, what do y'all think?

http://derektwigg.shutterfly.com/act...21b35d0bdfc4cb

The first 3 photos in that album show what my TV is doing and it is driving me crazy during the movies. The pictures unfortunately do not show just how bad it is, best I could do. I don't know if that is called grain or digital noise but it seems to be getting worse and I'm on my third Samsung TV and all three did the same thing and I've used three different HDMI cables (including a Monster 1000) and all that did was make the grain/digital noise more obvious, especially during scenes with that yellow/green color. Has anyone else suffered this problem with a PS3? The TV has been properly calibrated. Thanks for any help!

there, that is a better shot

plus the past few days my PS3 has been making this really loud beeping noise at random times of the day, really annoying when I'm asleep and it does it...usually always wakes me up, worse than an alarm clock

That is wierd. I know my PS3 displays like green dots in my blacks if I turn my contrast or brightness above what it is at currently. I assume it had to do with some kind of interference or power issue because I moved my tv and my ps3 into another room with nothing else connected to my tv, and the dots were gone. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out what is causing it, but I have basically given up.

Does it do this no matter what picture settings on your tv are set at?
Does it appear in the black background of your xmb menu?

the picture settings don't change it, if anything they make it more obvious. I don't think power is an issue, it is hooked up to a Monster Clean Power Center V2.0. Are you talking about the main b/g of the PS3? If so, then no it does not do it. My Xbox 360 using the same kind of HDMI cable doesn't do it either, at least not on the games or dvds I have watched on it. I guess I will have to try the dvd version of the same movie during the same scenes to confirm.

Pretty strange haha, my name is derek and I have the exact same tv with a PS3. I actually went through 9 Samsung TV's within a months period. A couple different models of course but the either had a line tearing issue or something. But finally got one with the updated chip and I love it.

Anyways, have you had you tv serviced by Samsung, don't know if you have it or not but there is a new Chip for your TV if it was made before June of 07 I think. Call Samsung to confirm.

Next...You area looks pretty cluttered. Unplug you PS3 and move it as far away as you can from anything and everything. And try just pluging in you PS3 to your TV....Start from scratch.

Try reseting the TV and the PS3 to default settings. Who knows, you could have accidently hit something wrong.

Is your setting on RGB in the PS3 setup?

Theres so many things that could be going on, just start testing one thing at a time. Hope this helps.

Derek

Yah its always hard to try to troubleshoot these thing without being there. Is it only certain scenes of movies? is it only the black areas or dark areas?

I wish I could help more.

You might check the AVS forums. There might be a firmware update for it. I know there is a thread just for your model display.

I'll try that stuff when I get home from work today, right now I'm off to bed.

My ps3 is set like this on display
VOS: 1080p
Screensaver: after 10 minutes
CCRF: off
RGB Full Range (HDMI): Limited
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (HDMI): On

then under BD/DVD Settings:
BD/DVD Video Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On
BD/DVD Dynami Range Control: Automatic
BD/DVD Audio Output Format (HDMI): Bitstream
BD Audio Output Format (Optical Digital): Bitstream

I tested the TV at default already, I did that on the second one and it was just as bad as my third one is calibrated

it is on most scenes, not necessarily a dark scene...even light scenes can have the grain, it is worst on yellows and blues

try your PS3 settings like this:

Cross Color Reduction Filter: On
RGB Full Range (HDMI): Full
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (HDMI): Off

then under BD/DVD Settings:
BD/DVD Video Output Format (HDMI): RGB
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): Off
BD/DVD Dynamic Range Control: Automatic

And then turn your TV setting to Movie or Standard, and dont make any changes to it. This is the exact setting I have on mine except for I have tweaked some picture adjustments on my tv. Hope this helps even more

I had it set to RGB to begin with and that is why I changed it to see if it improved the PQ

Damn Street, you're having this problem again? Isn't this your third TV set after two exchanges?

Any chance you could exchange it for a different brand or model?

I can but I wouldn't be able to get the same deal that I did, I got the TV at the President's Day sale pricing from Fry's website and I have yet to see another store or even frys beat that price since and I really don't feel like spending more money on a TV when it isn't going to be that much better

Have you called Samsung? that would probably be the easiest thing to do. Or test the same movie, even a DVD in your xbox and playstation to see if it does the same thing on both players if not you know its your PS3. And if it does then its your TV.

I tried it with the Island last week and didn't notice too much grain from my 360 but then again the PS3 blu-ray wasn't that bad either. Pirates and ID4 so far are the worst ones and I own the dvds of those, so I'll give that a try tonight.
