Default Sony KDS-60A3000

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere (I did look).

I have been looking and researching for a long time on this best HDTV both for BD and gaming. I have been torn between the new sony a3000 line or the diamond series from Mitsu. What I am looking for is any feedback that yall have on pros and cons of either. I am hoping to get some gamers to chime in on motion lag or ghosting. Please help and post if you can. Thanks!

Yeah, check the other thread (believe me, I have trouble finding them when I need them). I totally agree with Clayton. Every night I thoroughly enjoy my Sony. Don't know if they still have the $2100 price, but that was a steal!

My brother-in-law has the Sony 60A2000 series set that he bought a little over a year ago and loves it. It's a great value for the money.

He also paid around $2,800 for it and got a deal at the time.

At $2199.....it's a steal.

If you plan on watching a lot of BLU-RAY or HD-DVD discs definitely go with the Sony KDS-60A3000 since it correctly refreshes 1080P/24 at multiplies of the original frame. As far as I am aware the Mit uses a 3:2 pulldown process and does not refresh the original frame rate correctly. This is only a issue if you plan on watching a lot of HDTV optical discs.

For some reason they didn't release the 3000 in Canada... Our 2000 is superb and would have picked up a 3000 for our basement to get the 24/p and 120HZ etc..at $2000 it's an incredible value..

I was going to buy the A3000, but then the wife saw the XBR4 and said I could get it once the price went down. The 60A3000 is a STEAL at $2200. Great looking TV, and I have recommended it to friends not wanting the flat panel TVs, or wanting to stay below $3K.

Take a look at the specs and features side by side of the two.
You might decide not to wait.

I have seen quite a few experienced comments at AVS.com that the differences and picture quality is not that big different, which led some waiting for, or originally wanting an XBR to go with an A3000.

There had seem to be some issues with the first ones out, but i recieved my KDS-60A3000 last month and threw a calibration disk in and had no geometry or convergence issues.
I am very happy with the set.

Hey guys this is the first forum where i see this tv being discussed, i was going to buy the kds2000 but decided to wait for the 3000 which looks better...But i live in Belgium Europe and i heard that the kds3000 isnt coming out here? I see its finally been released in America, does anyone know more about a european launch? I would know exactly which tv to buy then...its pretty stupid if i gotta buy the kds2000 (which is like a year old by now...) for the same price i can get the 3000, just cause the 3000 isnt here yet (if ever?)... Ive also concidered letting it ship from America but thats probably too much work and stuff; and also the connections would probably be different right? So does anyone know about a european launch? help would be appreciated, thx in advance

Could you tell me where I can get or download a calibration disk please?

Yes. This one seems to be popular for most with it's ease of understanding and navigating it. It will explain what to do and how to use test patterns and include some filters that are required to adjust your tv correctly.
If you have not done this before, expect to play with, and learn how to use calibration patterns and the filters for a bit before you actually have your tv's final settings. Don't be afraid to do it a few times, you won't hurt anything.
Of course once you know how to calibrate with these tools correctly, you might find you don't like some settings. Then you can re adjust those to your liking. But then it won't be the standard anymore. Keep in mind that most people are not use to seeing a tv with proper settings so you may not like it at first.

different TV, your brother I assume has the Sony A2020, the A3000 is a bit different.

I have the A3000 and it's incredible. Absolutely love it.

It came out this past September/late August of 2007.

Default My opinion

shays whatever you do buy the SONY, I was in the same boat, the mitsu has a bit better color, buy sony hands down kills it in clarity, and really the color is great on both. Everyone that comes over says my KDS is the best tv theyve ever seen.

There is a A2000 model as well. The A2020 has a black bezel instead of the grey one..not sure of other differences between them. I'd be happy if they brought the A3000 to Canada for this coming holiday.

Looks like I have the geometry issue with my KDS-60A3000. It bends inward 1/4" at the very top on both left and right.

I bought it from Sears 4 months ago. And it looks like everyone is out of stock on these and Sony Style store also shows these out of stock.

I am a bit worried since Sony is phasing RP out and its probably going to be near impossible for them to replace it.

Many have stated that this can't be fixed with adjustments, but then I see other posts over at AVS saying a new service manual was released that does. So what is the real truth on this matter?

It seems this is common for the Sony RP and that 1/4" is at the reasonable end. I have to be honest and say they I never noticed it watching Blu-Ray movies. But in SD TV its obvious. Should this be acceptable and am I being too picky?

I love the picture from this set and have no other problems. I would hate to get another and then find it has even more problems and is a refurb rather than my brand new model. Should I just not worry about it?

I am curious is this something that is not going to be noticable in widescreen Blu-Ray? Or maybe it will on certain content like a specific scene in a movie that has something vertical on the sides like a building. Anyone have examples movies scenes that they can share that would really exhibit this problem in Blu-Ray?

its as a result of the thinner flimsier bezel. The DLP samsungs have been like this for the last 2 or three generations.

My 50" DLP is a lil bowed, but nothing major that I cant live with, especially for the cost of entry on it. No way i'm getting any 50" LCD with remotely the same PQ or features for $1171.99
