Okay, here's the situation.
My PS3 controller has gone wacky. Specifically the L3 (analog left stick) is buggy in that when I push to go forward, it stutters. In RFOM, I have to press in and move forward to get a consistent move forward. Also in RFOM if I want to change grenades, sometimes I press the Down button on the D-Pad and the grenade will change but the map will also pop up; the map pop-up button is Left on the D-Pad. Basically I got the grenade-map button intermittent problem since I got the PS3 but the L3 problem is more severe. The question is: does SCEA cover controller for 1 year? The controller is what came with the system which was purchased less than 1 year ago. fuad |

After being put on hold for a LONG time, the tech support guy said that SCEA doesn't cover it because it's out of warranty in my stipulated country. Initially he gave me a lame ass reason that this is due to the power supply issue - which I refute to his face - but then said that since it's used outside of the US, I'm SOL.
![]() ![]() ![]() I wish Sony Malaysia would bloody hurry up and launch the PS3 here. ![]() ![]() fuad |

Here's an update. No, I'm still out of warranty.
![]() ![]() ![]() When I took apart the SixAxis, which was work in itself, I could see nothing that was out of place. The analog stick electronic component itself looked fine. Since there was wear on the stick, and I believe most gamers have that telltale neck-o-grind on their sticks, I thought maybe it's just dust. So I puff some air no the hinges and the component, put it back together and ta-dah! It worked again! While I'm still out of warranty, there is something to be said about wear and tear and dust build-up inside the controller itself. So if the analog sticks are slow to respond, it could just need a bit of cleaning. fuad |
