Default Integra DTC 9.8

Anyone have this Pre-pro?
http://www.integrahometheater.com/mo...=Separates&p=f

I just purchased it from Jaimisons AV in Toledo. Seems like a really beefy unit. If there is anyone that has this unit did you use the automatic speaker setup? I’ve tried it twice and it just doesn’t sound quite right. I may just plug in the settings that I had on my old Onkyo receiver.
I haven’t played around too much with it but boy does the SACD sure sound great coming from my PS3. It blows away my Pioneer DV-45A with analog outs.
I am sure its just going to take some playing with to get the settings right.
I think I have the PS3 set right... I have it set to PCM output through HDMI.
The only beef I can so far is it takes a few seconds for the OSD to display.
I also thought the gray knob would be obtrusive but it’s not as bad as the pictures.

anyone have any valuable tips on setting this up?
I have this mated to an Adcom GFA 7807 amp with Klipsch RF-7s on front, RC-7 center, RS-7 surrounds and A velodyne DD-15 Sub.

I have one on order...hopefully getting it in a couple of weeks.

When you used the Audyssey software, how many measurements did you take?

BTW, I would definitely copy the setting from your old receiver just to get a baseline as to what the Audyssey software is doing...

The DTC 9.8 is a GREAT piece of hardware for the price.

If you use the Audyssey correctly, it should do a very accurate job calibrating your system. You may be "too" used to your old sound, and giving yourself time to listen to a "properly" calibrated system may be all you need.

Keep in mind, this is if you used Audyssey correctly.

It is very similar to being used to watching an uncalibrated TV. When properly calibrated it looks dark and not as vibrant. After watching it for a while it is much better, and much less fatiguing on the eyes.

Take at least 8 point if you can. See the Denon 3808!!!!! thread in the receiver section i posted a schema on how to take them (based on what a guy from Audyssey told on AVS forum, the guy have he's own thread...)

yeah i used the audyssey (probably not correctly) but it made a world of difference, and i don't have my setup exactly how i want it or how it should be, in need of a new tv stand/speaker stands.

Yes, I'm using one with the PS3. I found the Audyssey to be very good in helping set up the system. I'm outputting PCM too, and setting the Integra to Direct mode.

what exactly is the difference between a receiver and one of these, just curious, i have a dtr-6.8.
are these used in place of a receiver or in addition as an amp?

It's a preamp/processor only i.e. you'll need a multi-channel amplifier in addition to the Integra to drive the speakers. Receivers are pre/pro/amp, all-in-one.

thanks thats a great idea, I just copied the settings from the old receiver on a 3x5 card and wrote down the settings from wha the audassy came up with. quite a bit of difference.

origonally i calibrated the Onkyo TX-Sr 800 with a rat shack SPL Meter and a tripod. it was nice to see the microphone has a thread to mount on the tripod as well. im gonna set the speaker settings temporaily to match the old receiver and get a baseline.
ive spent about 4 hours taking my system all apart and cleaning every nook and crannie. ( i usually do that when i redo something)
since ive spent the day plowing and salting the streets im pretty much fubared right now.. gonna give it a fresh start in the morning.

i tried setting it to what my old receiver was set at. listened for a while didnt quite like it so i ran the auddusy auto setup again. the one question i have my velodyne DD-15 sub has the same kind of microphone setup. do i run the sub microphone set up before calibrating the integra or after or both?
also both times i ran the auddusy setup it configured the mains, center and surrounds as running full range. I changed the crossover to 80hz on all speakers.

I've had mine for over two months now and I just love this unit. It is worth anybody's wait for it.

I agree totally!

I had mine since this past Aug, and it is quite the performer for the $$$$.$$. I truly believe it is a break thru unit for the HT novice and enthusiast alike.

Im starting to love mine, I had to play with a lot of the settings but a fantastic unit for the price. the only issue I dont like about mine is that there seems to be too long of a delay when switching video sources.

yes, there is a slight delay as it locks onto the signal. It affects audio too.

This is my only issue with the 9.8 after about 2 weeks use. I find it needs to rehandshake between items on a disc. For example, pop in a BD, it will handshake, play the preview, re-handshake before the main title screen appears.

I also am not getting the OSD on 1080p source through HDMI. I get them on 1080i sources through component.

Anyone else have this?

That was fixed in a firmware release if I remember correctly. What version do you have on yours? Mine has 1.07.
