Default Sony leaves southland tales out in the cold.

Strange for a Sony release not to get the bluray treatment.

I'm seeing an extended cut double dip hitting and maybe thats when Sony will give southland tales the HD treatment.

Why spend the money making a Blu-ray for a movie that was only released in 63 theaters? The Blu-ray market is still too small for that type of risk.

Yeah there was one theatre in the san diego area that showed it...it was more of an inconvenience to see it than I thought it would be worth. I don't see why Sony would spend their money bringing films like this to Blu-ray...waste of money really.

First filming of the movie stopped and started several times, then it opened to boos at Cannes (a la Brown Bunny), then a drastic re-edit, then the studio said no to promotion, then it gave it a limited theatric release. I'm not shocked there is no blu-ray yet. I read it cost 15 millon to make and only raked in 300,000.

Coming from the same writer / director of Donnie Darko, I still want to see it though. Brown Bunny wasn't so bad and movies that are considered masterpieces now have been booed at Cannes.

There was an article/interview recently where the director said he was currently working on Donnie Darko and Southland Tales for Blu-ray release.

2 reasons why no Blu-Ray:

$275,380 domestic box office

34% rating at Rotten Tomatoes
