Best place to buy Blu-rays in Maui? - Blu-ray Forum

Not sure where to post this, so this seems like a good place. I'm in Japan most of the time, where the blu selection is expensive and more sparse. I'm gonna be in Maui for a few days at the end of the month, and was wondering if anyone out there can recommend a shop that might have a selection of Blu rays to choose from? Thanks in advance...

If you don't mind English language tracks only just buy from amazon.com.

Go to the hot deals section for other places to buy from.

You can add to your selection by choosing region B titles which are compatible with region A players http://bluray.liesinc.net/#bruk

Actually, I'm American. I can't really buy from Amazon when I'll only be in Maui a couple of days. Just hoping there was something I could pick up while there. Thanks though...

I'd just hit up a big-box store while you're there, and check the "discount" chains like Target.....

Why can't you buy from Amazon?

There aren't any big box stores there, I think (except maybe a walmart, and we know how their selection is). Basically Amazon is fine if I want to pay high shipping or whatever. In this case, I just thought since I will be in Maui for a few days anyway, it'd be nice if I could pick up a couple cheaper/unreleased in Japan discs before heading back to Japan. That's all... Thought maybe someone who had been to Maui/lived in Hawaii might know some places on the island with a selection.

I just got back from Maui two days ago.

The Walmart located by the airport is actually pretty good. Also, I didn't get to stop inside, but there is a brand new Barnes and Noble bookstore that opened up. I'm not sure if it carries Blu-ray films or not though. Also, I don't know if you have a PS3 or not, but there's a Gamestop at the Cannery Mall that was well stocked on PS3 games.

Where will you be staying? Let me know, and I might be able to think of a couple of options. I split time at the Grand Wailea and also in Lahaina.

You best bet for blu-ray on Maui is Costco. They carry most of the recent releases. I was there a few days ago, and they had about 25-30 titles in blu.

I have a custom home theater business on Maui and getting content for blu has been a bit of a challenge. Now with HD-DVD out of the picture, the other shops, such as Walmart, B&N, etc should ramp up inventory.

Walmart does have some titles, but it is very small so far here on Maui.

Or you can catch a cheap flight for 20 bucks to oahu and go to bestbuy (sadly yes, bestbuy is the best place to buy blus locally). I doubt walmart on maui has a good selection since the walmarts here have a terrible selection. I think go airlines have those $20 promos once in awhile. I think once it was even a dollar to fly interisland, but they run out super quick.
