Default Recording standard video on Blu-ray discs

If this has been answered, I cannot find it.

I have an external Blu-ray recorder. It is my wish to transfer my old 8mm video tape recordings onto Blu-ray disc and be able to play them on my Blu-ray player.

So far, all the software I have been able to find will only allow me to store data on the Blu-ray discs, but not video that I can play.

I have been recording the video onto a hard drive and then transfering it to standard DVD, but that take a LOT of DVDs.

I have tried Creator 10, but that fails and technical support has not been able to help.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Ron

I have seen that list. Unhappily, I cannot find out which program will allow me to record standard video on to a BD-RW disc and play it on my Blu-ray player. They talk about recording HD on to a BD-RW disc or about recording data onto a BD-RW disc, but not spicifically about my need. I have spent a lot of time on the Corel site, but, unless I already have pruchased the software, there seems no way to contact them with questions prior to purchase. The knowledge of the sales people in stores is also lacking. They know about standard DVD, but nothing about Blu-ray.

The Creater 10 says it will, but when I try, it takes my video and loads it onto the harddrive and then, says "Unspecified error". The Tech Support people have spent hours trying to figure out why, but so far, my project is on hold and would much rather get a new programs that actually works instead of wasting more time with this one.

On that list, is there a reasonably priced program that will simply let me take my already created standard video files and put them on a BD-RW disc and then play that disc on my Blu-ray player?

I think blu-ray supports 720p, 1080i and 1080p (please correct if I am wrong). If this is the case, your video which is 480i should be upconverted to at least 720p prior to recording on BD. So, needed to locate a s/w package that would do this. Perhaps most authoring s/w assumes your content is already in HD.

I checked in Ulead site. It appears that DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus could do this. It claims that it could capture from DV camera (i.e. 480i) and burn to blu-ray. Please check this.

"Capture from either HDV or DV video camcorder, and burn directly to Blu-ray Disc to create a video disc that plays on your next-generation player"

Default Recording standard video on Blu-ray discs

Thank you I will look into that.

One of the features(?) of Blu-ray was the ability to have hours and hours of standard video on a BD-R disc. This is not of much value if nobody can do it.

I have been fighting with Roxio for some time and keep getting an "unspecified error" Just as I am about to be successful. Now, I hear that Nero can do it. Problem is, I can't seem to contact a company before I purchase a program for information.
