They're both First Person Shooters. The only difference is the graphics. Take your pick.

Not only that -resistance is a sci-fi shooter so maybe that might matter.

Unless of course your TV is 1080i-only, then stay away from Resistance.

Call of Duty 3 is just more of the same.

Resistance is THE PS3 game to get, IMO, especially if you're a FPS fan.

Agreed 100%. Resistance is the better choice.

COd3 feels like a straight up expansion to COD2.

I'm just burned out on that series, in general, although I found that United Offensive was great for online multiplayer on the PC. For me, UO was the height of that series thus far.

I think I've heard that since Resistance is a 720p-only game, other resolutions are not officially supported by the game but still can be upconverted.

Unfortunately, the scaler of the PS3 DOES NOT (at the moment) upconvert to interlaced resolutions (such as 1080i). Thus, that's where the problem begins.

Since first-gen HDTV sets only support 1080i, this cannot be done for Resistance: FOM. These sets only support either 1080i or 480 res. Since the 1080i IS NOT POSSIBLE for this game, the PS3 has no option but to force it down to 480 resolution which is blurry as hell.

Thus, this is why I recommend that if you only have a 1080i-only TV set, you must stay away from this game (until Sony releases a firmware patch or a software solution).

They both look awesome to me at 92". CD3 is 1080i while RFM is 720p. But, I've got a VP50 to match the resolution to my 1080p FP. I haven't played either enough to say which I prefer. I'd go with the theme you like better.

On another note, my brother-in-law and I played Ridge Racer 7 from the drivers seat perspective. It was really awesome in sound and PQ. He's susceptiple to motion sickness and got sick from it though. Which I took as a good sign. I was surprised how well the graphics held up at 92 inches. And they say it's going to get a lot better as game developers start designing games that take advantage of all BD and the PS3 can do. Supposedly they're just scratching the surface right now. This is the product of the year IMO.

I completely agree. I know that there are a lot of Xbox 360 games that look awesome now too, but the anti-Sony crowd likes to make it seem as if the PS3 won't get better at all as time moves along. The PS3 just came out, so obviously the developers are still learning how to program efficiently for it.
