Default Sin City Sequels

All right SC2 is in pre-production and SC3 is in production. Now let me see if I got this right. There going to do SC3 first or are they going to film both at the same time.

I see Johnny Depp is rumored to be in these films. He's playing Wallace.

SC2 has been in pre production for a LONG time. Robert Rodriguez will probably do Machete then Barberella first. I don't think Weinstien has enough money to produce it.

The latest news I heard on these is that they're having financial problems and that Sin City 2 is planned to be the next movie and that Sin City 3 is a possibility but not as official as Sin City 2. So far Johnny Depp hasn't been confirmed. The director said he wants Depp to play Wallace, but never said that he is going to play Wallace. The movies are in a stall because they have no money I guess. I might be wrong though

I've got an idea, why doesn't Hollywood just cut sequels and do original material instead?

A Sin City sequel would be better than most of the "original" ideas out there though. Just about everything that comes out nowadays borrows from something else. To be a truly original movie would be mind-blowing.

Yeah yeah, Sin city is a good film. My point is that you can sometimes ruin a good thing by trying to overdo it. Most sequels are not as good as the original (with exceptions like T2) and end up being disappointing. The exception is in works that were originally conceived of as multi-episode, like LOTR, Jean de Florette and Manon des sources, etc.

I'm not so sure there aren't good original ideas out there. I think it's more likely that Hollywood doesn't like taking risks on something that hasn't been tried and proven. They are also trying to reach the broadest possible market. (And yeah, "original" is a relative term.)

The graphic novels have lots of more characters to use don't they? And they aren't necessarily related to the original characters, I think.
