Default Onkyo TX-SR705 price drop

I was at CC yesterday and I noticed that the 705 is now on clearance for $649. It is still more expensive than other places but Im wondering if those prices will come down too. I wonder if either CC is getting rid of it or if Onkyo is releasing a newer model.

Default price drop?

C.net reports prices of 599 or lower...

Any price drop may be a result of time, or reaction to the DTS-HD MA decoding problem...

Cheers, Doc

In a word, Yes. Check the main page or use the search function. Been a hot topic here for few days. I don't have links at the ready... sorry.

Cheers, Doc.

quote from thread: DTS Global Product manager Ronny Katz confirms that the problem is caused by a faulty DTS Decoder Chip (IC) in the Receivers of the companies of Onkyo and Yamaha. Recievers from Denon, Pioneer and Sony, which uses a different DTS Decoder Chip are unaffected and has no difficulties bit-streaming the DTS-HD MA tracks from the titles concerned. DTS has a made a fix/update to their Encoding software which will address the problem by taking the faulty DTS Decoder Chip into consideration, thus avoiding the issue on future Blu-Ray releases. It is however unknown at this time, if the Recievers with the faulty DTS Decoder chips can be fixed to work with the current DTS-MA discs by firmware update.
