Did you get your set from a Brick and mortar or online? Was your experience good or bad?
I'm buying soon and would like to hear recommendations or warnings. Thanks! Last edited by GreenScar; 03-25-2008 at 06:02 AM. Reason: spelling |

I hear horror stories about Circuit City, but the guys at my CC were great.
They let me play with everything. ![]() |

best buy for me, it was actually pretty informative considering it was just some kid who sold me my set... thinking back he really knew quite a bit

my circuit city price matched amazon on my ln-t4065f, they got the sale.
i have little credit and thye worked out a 0% financing deal with me for 18 months. it had a dead pixel, had no problem returning it and getting a new one the same day. if this was amazon, it would have taken weeks to get everything sorted out and get a new HDTV in my hands. wonderful experience with CC. |

I got mine at best buy and then a week later say it on sale at sears and got it for a decent sale price. Even with the clearance price right now going on at best buy I still got it for almost the same price. I did a lot of research online and pick the brains at most of the major electronics places to see which hdtv was right and to see if all the reps would say the same thing. I just like best buy because i can use the rewards money towards my other purchase. I also got a 3 year no interested no payment till 2010.... 2 more years to go.....

Pioneer Elite is supposed to be sold in-store only but I found some authorized dealers that do ship them. I briefly considered that route but eventually decided against it. I was mainly worried about the inconveniences of returns/exchanges if something was wrong with something as large as a 60" TV. So I ended up buying my TV at Magnolia AV. A little more expensive but worry-free in my case. The reason why I bought it there was because it was only there and Best Buy's Magnolia HT that had it in stock, everywhere else seemed to be out of stock for weeks/months.

i got 2 from best buy...first a 42 inch LCD and then a 52 inch. LCD..
i got the extended service plan for 4 years they actually will come to your house and fix it...and if they have the same problem 3 times you get a new one....I never have had any probs tho And i love them both!!! I recommend a LCD...1080p...at least 46 inch and i would roll with sony or samsung.... That all depends on how your pockets are looking tho...But alot of plasmas and dlps looks great also...HAVE FUN with your purchase...do it at a store if you can...get what you want..even if you have to save a extra week...Dont settle for something smaller like i did with the 42...i went back and got a 52 a couple months later...I still love both tho. |

Also, do some research and know what size room your tv is going into. It would help out a lot. I wish I should had pickup the 1080p but back then I didn't think I would be buying a blu-ray player and only be watch directv but i'm still happy with my 720p set. Maybe when I get a house with a larger basement I'll buy a 1080p and put the 720p in my bedroom Last edited by xiong651; 03-25-2008 at 06:31 AM. |

Went to Circuit City looking at HDTVS ... did a bunch of research... saw the picture on the XBR4 sony bravia and fell in lust ihad to have it... paid for it at the counter, the lady didnt even make eye contact with me or say thank you for spending 3k at our store. they got the tv loaded up on the bed of my truck and 3 dumb ignorant kids slammed it onto the bed of my truck and quickly left.. now im fuming. went back in talked to the manager about their lack of politeness.. the manager was more interested in waiting on some hot girl in the store so i just told them to unload the tv and give me my money back... whats funny is they quietly unloaded it refunded my money, never apologized nothing. I ended up buying the same TV on amazon and saved 200 dollars and got free ship to boot.Couldnt be happier

I shopped around and did alot of research. Visited BB,CC and Abt to view all the set and played with the settings. I fell in love with the Sharp Aquos and saw the best price on Dell.com and asked the Dell kiosk at the mall, "can u beat Dell.com and if so i'll buy it today" they said, "yes by 10%"
http://slickdeals.net/?permadeal=113...ect_deal_11350 got my LCD for $1338.74 free shipping, Tax included and Free Sharp Blu-ray player Definately shop and have a set budget, it took me 5 months to take the plunge. I periodically check www.Slickdeals.net and www.Techbargains.com for sales and promotions I'm shopping for a receiver but those monkeys at CC don't hook up to demo the systems, so i haven't been convinced to purchase anything yet. I always see 5 red shirts walking around talking to each other. CC has the Onkyo HT-SR800 displayed with the speaker all hooked up but no source to hear the audio, makes no sense at all. Mine was on sale the Military BX in 2003, I believe. I forget what I paid, but I know it was marked way down. I also had this 10% off coupon sitting in my wallet since I joined in 1990! It had no expiration and no exemptions. I kept it and kept it waiting for something big to use it on. The BX accepted the coupon.
Being this was a Sony Wega 34" Tube TV, it was 200 lbs. The BX couldn't deliver to my home 70 miles away. (Yes, I travel that far for my Air National Guard weekends to keep you safe while you watch blu-ray.) The BX post office said it was too heavy for them to deliver. I knew when I saw the TV this is the one. But this wide body was too big for my Saturn. Finally my one friend Marvin helped me as he had his truck. Went out of his way for me and I gave him a nice tip. I did have to spend extra for the HD tuner box, but for the price it was and still is a great HDTV - even at 1080i. Have to remember, back in 2003 neither plasma nor LCD were in their prime and had problems. An HD tube TV had all the benefits with none of the drawbacks except for width and weigh. Big deal. It was nice re-running the tuner every couple of months or so and discovering new OTA Digital channels. Last edited by tron3; 03-25-2008 at 03:12 PM. |

I picked mine up a my local Best Buy, I had them order the specific model I wanted (It wasn't in stock) I also had them match Neweggs price (Plus shipping cost @ $100.00) and that knocked off $600.00 for me, and oddly enough they we're quite happy to do that for me, they didn't give me the slightest hesitation in knocking $600.00 off.
![]() The TV arrived in 3 days I went there and it was in the bed of my truck in about 5 minutes. Very painless and speedy process. |

I bought my Sony at the Sony Style Store here in Denver. It was not yet out at the time, so I had to wait a few weeks to actually get the set. Sony did have a deal at the time in which the 5-year maintenance agreement was free with the purchase, an approximate $300 value. The TV did arrive in great shape a bit earlier than I anticipated from a trucking firm Sony uses to deliver their TVs in our area. A friend helped me set the whole thing up after the TV and matching Sony stand were left in my living room--the delivery duo took the TV out of the box and plugged it in to ensure that it worked properly before they left--and I have been thrilled ever since.

father-in-law bought mine at Best Buy..... decided it was too large for his study, and gave it to us about 2 weeks after he got it, and got a 32" for himself.
Had he not give us out Aquos, I probably would have purchased one from the Home-Theater store I shop at..... I'd end up paying more probably, but they always take care of me. Audio-Visions There are a few locations in the Northern Ohio area, not sure where else. |
