I knew this would get some people attention!!
Anyways, here is some information on the $40.00 coupon program that the US government is instituting regarding the switch from analog to digital. I know most people have HDTVs and dont need these, but even with that I have an analog TV in the garage and in the kids room and am going to need a box. Here is the link to the website to apply for the coupon.

This is meant to help unknowing people as there are still people with analog TVs. I would put this off til Feb 2009 as these boxes may become scarce.

Those will only be necessary if you receive free over the air tv broadcasts. If you have a pay service (cable or satellite) the converter box will not be needed.

Additionally, we need to be careful with this. This switch is not to HDTV for everyone. Many consumers, who don't know as much as we do about televisions and technology, are being duped into buying HDTVs because of this. This is just a conversion to DIGITAL. That means your old tube TV will work. the televisions to watch out for are the ones which you change channels by turning a knob, or as the previous poster said, you receive your channels over the air.

I just want to make sure that's clear. My wife works for PBS, and you'd be surprised at the amount of hysteria there is concerning this switch over...
