Default How Are You Liking Your 40GB PS3??

Just curious as to how those of you who chose the 40gb model are liking it even without the b/c to ps2 games and other missing features. Any regrets with purchase vs the 80gb model?

I am 110% happy with my purchase.I kept putting off buying it but after I hooked it up 2 weeks ago,I was blown away with what this thing can do and I think i just scratch the surface with experimenting with it.

I think a majority of those on here who did get the 40 gig use it mainly as a Blu Ray player. I on the other hand have a 60 gig and love it.

So far, I could not be more pleased. At first, I really just bought the PS3 40gb as a second blu-ray player, but I also bought a few games for it too, just for shits and giggles. I could care less about backwards compatibility. The games have amazing graphics, the system is quiet and stays pretty cool inside my TV stand, and loads blu-ray movies so fast, I don't even believe it. I am more than happy and after several holiday get togethers at my house this year, I have wowed several family members and friends to get one and get on the blu-ray train. After showing Drake's Fortune, Rock Band, Planet Earth, and Ratatouille, everyone is dazzled. The biggest problem is getting everyone to first buy an HDTV that is worth a crap.

Anyway, PS3 40GB, loving it!!

Best purchase I've made in a while. It's fast, quiet and just a powerful machine. At first I was disappointed about not being able to play my PS2 games, but I just sold them to get PS3 games. I was more concerned about the compatibilty for my DVDs than the games. I think my system will be used for both gaming and movies. I love Blu Ray!

Just curious but does the 40gb have built in wi-fi? I have the 60gb and the wi-fi is a HUGE plus for me. I'm going to be getting a second blu-ray player soon and would definately consider the 40gb PS3 if it also has built in wi-fi.

Yes, the 40 gig does have wi-fi built in. So far I'm loving ine, as it was purchased mainly as a blu ray player, and that's all it has been used for, besides playing a few game demos. I will probably get a couple games here and there when I find something I really like for it, but until I do, it's been a great blu ray player, and I don't regret getting it.

I bought a 40 gig last month off Dell.ca. It came with bonus extra controller & 12 ft HDMI cable.

Best decision I could have made,

I couldn't care less about the b/c, (I like to move forward, not backward), & was able to nab Motorstorm used off Kijiji for 20$ anyway.

40 or 80 gig hd are both too small IMO when it comes to loading it with HD content, so I'll be putting the 100$ I saved toward a 250 gig SATA hdd later on.

I love mine. I didn't have a PS2 so I don't care about b/c. I'll probably put in a larger harddrive at some point, but the 40gb is enough for now.

Very happy with mine, super quiet, I don't think the fan spins at all when watching movies or about 90 mins. of playing games. Just glad I never bought those $30 external cooling fans and no I don't need them. Loaded all of our Holiday pictures so we can view via our Aquos 52" vice our 17" LCD on our computer.

I have two 60 gigs (purchased pre-holiday last year) and bought my daughter a 40 gig this christmas, because every time my son got up in the morning he would find his PS3 in her room because she wanted to watch a blu-ray movie. Anyway, it died already !! (disc read error) Took it back to BB and exchanged it for an 80 gig. The only good thing that came out of this is that because I spent the extra $100 the guy at BB customer service gave me another receipt and said "It looks like you get another 5 free movies".

Bought one for the bedroom mainly as BD player and it's quieter than any of the others - which were pretty good to start with - love that the fan is always on it's lowest setting - even Folding@Home running all day doesn't budge it. They really reduced the power and heat output on this puppy. Alot. It would make an ideal server as well.

I'd love to see one of these for $50-100 less and no hard drive and a firmware/OS upgrade that created a server based version of the PS3.

Just recently ordered and received a 40GB that's going to a friend as well.

I bought mine solely for gaming, I had a Samsung 1400 before I got the PS3 I love it though. With the processing power and the incredible graphics of PS3 games, I have no need to play any PS2 games. I'm so friggin hooked on Oblivion that its almost pathetic. I really love that Super Puzzle Fighter game too. The PS3 is great and so far I have no regrets after owning a 40GB.

I love it. I mainly purchased it as a Blu-Ray player and have watched 3 or 4 movies thus far. Have never owned a game console or used one before -- I am slowly working my way through "Call of Duty 4".

So, what made you putting it off? Did you have a preference for the 360 or the Wii?

I love it. Then again, we already have a 60GB model in the family room where the kids can play PS2 games. The 40GB is for the bedroom, which I use for movies and games, but I'll never play a PS2 game again so why would I need BC.

Also the 40GB is way quieter and therefore superior for movie playback especially in a bedroom environment.
