Default Seen Blu Ray movies playing at last!

Finaly saw 2 Blu Ray movies playing in my local John Lewis store in the UK.

SWAT was being played on the Samsung player onto a Samsung LCD.

Didnt recognise the second film, but it was being shown on the Panasonic player onto a Panasonic Viera Plasma.

I have to say I wasnt overly impressed with either set up, it didnt seem any better than the Arcam DVD and Pioneer Plasma I have at present

Neither of the screens were 1080p might this explain why I left feeling underwhelmed?

Cheers

You know, at my local tweeter they have 3 1080p sets all with different blu-ray players playing different titles.

If I had to rely on those setups (any of them) to sell me on the format I'd be like...Hell no.

Whats funny is none of my TV's at home are 1080p and I have a ps3 & sammsung BD player. My setups run circles around the PQ (or lack there of) in the store. The displays they are using look like they have been on torch mode for quite some time and look washed out and as if they are way past their "Half life" not to mention poor calibration.

I wouldn't judge a format by setups in the stores, many on these and other boards did and all were wrong about their initial assumptions when they finally caved, brought it home and connected to their own setups.

As someone who owns 2 players from both formats, and about 53 BD's and 30+ HDDVD's I can tell you that they are both able to deliver fabulous PQ and both formats are equal in that regard.
In Sound quality, Blu-Ray is just unbelievable and HDDVD is pretty good (better than DVD) but not as good as Blu-Ray.

Buh Bye now

In one store over here they have a blu ray setup that I initially thought was just another poorly setup DVD. Another store (different monitor / TV) and WOW!!!!!!! Just like with audio, connect speakers up out of phase etc and you can make the best sounding system sound the worst.

Brain,
Have you changed jobs, or just sick of taking your employer everywhere with you? My apologies if I have missed your explanatory post.
