Default Toast 9 for Mac with Blu burning!

Hi, I just found out about Toast 9 that supposedly burns blu ray video instead of just data like Toast 8. I will let you know how it works.

That's interesting. I have never heard of any of the "toast"s.

Is it a software? and did you say its for Macs?

I got the mass email about this program this morning.

I hope it will allow burning PS3 compatible HD Video on a standard DVD. I have been considering upgrading to a HiDef camcorder, but have held off because I currently have no way of saving my movies. Although final cut express and iMovie support editing of hidef content, iDVD only supports HiDef in a DVD format that, as far as I know,is only compatible with computer playback.

Ok, so far I have found out that it DOES WORK!!! Now, what I did was burn a 1080i home vid to blu on a rewritable disk and played it on my panny 30. It works as designed. BUT there is some tweeking to do. I had to figure out the best way to get it from iMovie to Toast 9 so I exported to quicktime format and I did not check quality after that because I wanted to test it so bad and movement was jittery on the source video in quicktime. I think this is where I need to tweek. For those who have not worked in HD is uses a lot of HD space 5 minutes 4 GIGS! There is some learning to do since I did not work much with T8 but it does work well. I just need to make sure my source video is good to go first.

Same! I just bought Toast 8 about 6 weeks ago and have barely used it. The $20 rebate is just not worth it.

I have a OWC (other world computing) Blu Ray burner, and have never used it for anything for almost a year until the day after T9 came out. Jason

I have Final Cut Studio, I exported my 1080i from FCP through compressor, there was HD-DVD preset in compressor and Toast 9 burnt the 1 minute test video to a DVD-R in just a few minutes. There was no BluRay preset so I exported a 1080i QuickTime Movie from FCP and tried to build a BluRay Project with Toast 9 but it didn't like the format of my video. Does anyone know what format Toast wants to burn a BluRay project?

lol I didn't even know Toast 9 was out. I have 8.3.1 and it supports Blu-ray burning.

Toast 8 only allows data to be burned to blu ray.

I think the key is what Quicktime format and settings you use. I will be experimenting to see which one it likes the best. At least my Panny 30 will read my movies on a rewritable disk.
