I was thinking that some of the scenes are in fact shot specifically for IMAX so I checked out IMDB. They have the aspect ratio for the IMAX scenes at a 1.44:1 while they have the non-IMAX scenes aspect ratio as 2.35:1. How is this going to translate to Blu-ray???

Maybe they'll have two versions, black bar and no black bar...

Here's a pretty good answer at the bottom of this page.

I think IMAX is shot as portrait (layout). The film is run sideways through the camera. Hence the weird aspect ratio. It will be projected at 2.35:1 or ~2.40:1 in ordinary theaters, I assure you.
http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/11/23/...requel-rumors/ With the increased resolution of IMAX film, the Blu-ray should look incredible. Last edited by TauHeel05; 03-31-2008 at 03:28 AM. |
