Default Speakers for $2k

Hello,
I would like some recommendations for a set of speakers (2 towers, 2 surrounds, and a center). I'd like my budget to be around $2,000, but that's not set in stone. My receiver is an Onkyo 805, and I already have an SVS PB12-Plus/2 subwoofer on the way. Thanks for any suggestions.

Definitive Technology speakers are highly rated and reasonably priced. You can check their web site and decide what your budget allows.

Quad L-ite system. They run $1500 and absolute sound has them rated in the top 5 for all speakers under $2k. www.iagamerica.com/quad

Paradigm speakers are an example of excellent Canadian speakers.

In general, many good speakers, at reasonable prices, are manufactured in Canada. The main reason is because of the outstanding audio research that has been done by Canadian National Research Council in Ottawa. The research has been available with no cost to Canadian manufacturers such as Axiom, Energy, Mirage, MTS, Paradigm, PSB, etc. In recent years, many American and British manufactures have also benefitted from this research.

Paradigm was one of the first companies that started designing Bipolar speakers, the same technology that is used in many of the Definitive Technology speakers.

I have listened to them, they are average compared to everything else that has been recommended. They are very tinny/high pitched.

Era Design 4's. Went in looking to buy B&W and was blown away by the sound stage and clarity - got these instead. You know after hearing a Dianne Krall demo CD and the goosebumps don't leave for 20 minutes? Yeah, like that.

Default I've heard many, audition a pair of..

PSB Synchrony Two B's are wow! $1500 bookshelf speakers. I've heard a slew of great ones, and these are my favorites thus far at that price point. I worked in a high-end "boutique" audio store for years as a part-time salesperson (and have attended several of the large audio/video convention shows over the years) and therefore have gained many insights into great sound reproduction. One of the most neglected keys to customer speaker purchase is consideration of the listening room size/dimensions where you'll be listening to your purchase. I had an acquaintance on Sunset Blvd in LA that had a $35K+ Mark Levinson/McIntosh setup that I heard a couple of times, and words/phrases like "spatial sound stage", "live presence", "crystal-clear", etc. came to mind. That said, if his mega-dollar system dropped into my possession, I'd sell it because I just don't have the right space to justify owning it.
