Default Need help! Denon/Elite/yahama/Onkyo

I am currently looking to upgrade my receiver I've been stuck in the 80's for some time now and realize I must use warp speed to exit. Here's what I'm looking at:
Denon4308ci
Elite(pioneer) VSX-94TXH
Yahama RXV 3800b
Onkyo TXNR905
I have a plasma tv, paradigm speakers.
I've looked at the reviews and all sounds wonderful but I guess I'm looking to have some pros and cons. These systems do so much it's mind boggling?
Anyway any help would be appreciated. In laymans terms even better.

Have you thought about looking into seperates? At that price point you can get a proc/amp combo that can deliver more power per channel than those receivers with greater separation and clarity.

I thought I read somewhere that the cost of going to separate amps would be well to costly?

7.1 amps can be difficult to come by at a lower price. Here is one with a little less power than the receivers listed:

Emotiva LPA-1

This is a more powerful amp but only 5 channels:

Emotiva XPA-5

Here is their a/v proccessor which is set to be replaced in april:

Emotiva MMC-1

Here is the product page of a competitor, you'll notice that the amp prices are much higher:

Outlaw Audio

It's hard to make a wrong choice here.
You might also consider the Sony STR-DA5300ES. It has all the features & bells, 6 HDMI inputs, all the new sound codecs and a great on-screen GUI for setup.

Actually I do want the 7.1 and all the bells and whistles as I normally keep things for long periods and want the options of upgrading anything I have in the future. And the more power the better it's nice to have it available if I feel like replacing my windows somewhere down the road. I've never heard of Emotiva?

I have the Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH it is as future proof as I think you could get right now . You said you keep pieces for a long period of time and I highly doubt you will outgrow this piece of equipment .

AVR-4308ci is a nice piece of equipment. Don't be fooled by the list price.

This as a system is around 2000.00 for the 3 components? I doubt if I could see this system in action at least I doubt if any store in Halifax N.S. would carry it? Would it function the same as the receivers I listed? If I buy something like this online I'd hate to be disappointed.

I was wondering when you were going to reply since on other posts you seem very knowledgeable in the receiver area. I haven't heard much on marantz in a long time only that they were a reputable company and the last demo was i heard had marantz/klipsh vs denon/paradigms and well the later won out in sound.

Marantz and Denon are basically the same company...different departments, so to speak.

As for the sound difference when you heard them...could be any number of factors, the difference in speakers used could be one of them.

All I know, is that 2 HDMI Outputs is a huge capability advantage. And Maranatz makes mighty fine Receivers...even me being a Pio Elite fan, If I had the money I would not think twice on the Marantz. But thats just me.

was this aimed at me?

Ive listened to the 3808ci, Pio92, and the yamaha 1800...arguably not the top of each class, but excellent receivers overall.

According to this you can only use one hdmi output at a time. Kinda useless.

You only need one of the two amps and the proc. That would put it around $1500 for the more powerful 5.1 system, and $1200 for the less powerful 7.1 system.

They are only sold from their website and have a 30 day no risk in-home trial.

Is there a link to a site where you can put the specs of all these side by side? Anyone have any insight into getting stuff shipped to Canada from the states as your prices seem much cheaper? And thanks for all the info so far.
