Referrals - Blu-ray Forum

Hi,
this may be a newbie question, but I'm not really a newbie. Anyway, can someone explain to me referrals within the blu-ray.com system. What are they? Are they good or bad? What do they mean?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

During registration it asks if anyone referred you to the site, and if so give the username. When you enter their username you are giving them a referral.

ohhhhhhhhhh. I thought it was something I did. That's kind of a letdown. well, then. i'm pretty stumped on who referenced me. I must investigate....

basically, I think it means the number of people who sign up and mention you as the designee that guided you to the blu-light

I always wondered about referrals, always believe they were like warnings for being bad.
