Default Great Moments in Online Gaming

What are your favorite memories? One of mine was
when I joined a coop server in Joint Operations and the
admin put me alone on the rebel side against 10 other
gamers. Guess it was his idea of a practical joke.
I ended up with a 3:1 kill ratio and snuck on 4 of
them from behind while they were hiding in a building
and killed them all, including the admin.

I have put up better numbers for sure but this
one stuck out because I wasn't expecting it.

What are your favorite gaming memories online?
Doesn't have to be about stats, could be something
funny that happened.

Finding the first warp flute in Super Mario Bros 3... in the first castle.

A good friend at the time had a copy of it 3 months before it was released in North America and an adaptor to make it work on his Nintendo. We got so excited when "The Wizard" was coming out in theatres because it touted "a never before seen secret about 'Super Mario Bros 3', which had just barely been released in North America at the time the film hit theatres. We laughed so hard when we saw them go for the warp flute in the movie. We were saying, "That's old news. Found that months ago."

This just happened this weekend while playing COD4.

I was playing Search and Destroy on Crossfire and the other team had eliminated all but one of our teammates so my screen showed his point of view. Unfortunately for us, this guy must have went to go to the bathroom or something, because he stood in one spot the whole round. So I was watching him just look straight forward not moving when I saw one of enemy players up in a building far away. The enemy saw my teammate just standing there, and instead of shooting him from far away, he thought he'd be funny and run up to him and knife him or something. So I watched the enemy jump out of the building, and walked right up to my teammate. As the enemy was still walking towards my teammate, and as soon as he got close enough, my teammate knifed him to death! There was zero hesitation! I don't know if this guy was planning on this the whole time or he just got super lucky and returned to his controller at the perfect moment, but oh man this was so funny! The enemy dude probably freaked when the guy moved right at the last second to kill him. How humiliating!

Transferring to BG9 in World of Warcraft and queueing up against Team Notorious/ Power Trip/ Pandemic.

Capping on them in WSG was a huge deal, as only team TAO had ever been able to cap on them before. Fast forward 6 months later, and our guild is ranked overall #1 in the world for arena.

so many, mostly in COD4 ( my first online game btw )...

im going to chime in with my most recent one...

crash map
first sniper rifle (dont remember name)
sneaked up on the concrete side of the map
started sniping...

got a kill streak of 15, all headshots STRAIGHT, with only 2 kills.
2 kills were during approach, which makes it all the better experience.

its always nice when things work out for you.

I'm an old-school pc gamer from the Doom/Duke Nukem pre-trash talking gaming days. I was actually pretty good at the time, and I still like to believe I am . Anyway, I hopped on to a Half-Life 2 deathmatch a few years back that was already 8 min. or so into a 20 min. match. My tag was "Eva Gabor", and maybe after 2 min. I wasn't fairing very well... at least up until the trash-talking frag leader said, "Who's this Eva Gabor guy. He ssssuuuuuuucks." That did it - it got personal at that point, and I switched to "I'm getting this guy and anything that stands in my way" mode. He was up around 20 frags on me, but by the time the round ended 10 minutes later I won the match and beat him by 2. I responded to him at the end of the match with a simple, "you were saying?" He dropped out when the next round started, and I even got a few thank yous from the other players.

On call of duty 3 when i would kill someone...As they lay on the ground i would go stand over them and tea bag them for the 10 seconds it would take them to respawn...Then when i got call of duty 4 the first couple times i tried it and died because they had martyrdom as a perk...i hope they fix this and i can go back to teabagging people in call of duty 5...

I just remembered another time when I was into Jedi Academy (PC) about 4 years ago. I hooked up with a clan, and as typical with joining a clan I had to be "initiated". I expected, as usual, that I'd have to fight one of the clan members. Well, instead of just doing that, they said I also had to turn my volume up and play blindfolded. I was like, "you guys are freakin' kidding, right?" They of course said they were dead serious, and if I wanted to join I had to do it because "it would make me a better player and be 'at one' with my saber." Yeah, I was laughing for like a week, but they were one of the best clans so I played along without a blindfold pretending to be clumsy with random jumping and saber swings. I convinced them, and of course they were laughing their asses off afterward. They were a funny group of players, always in there for the fun and not just the game.

The first moment I played Warhawk.

Friend brought it over to show me how to play. I spawn in and there's this flag sitting there, so I grab it. He doesn't know where to go and neither do it, so I sit there.

Next, I decide to get in a jeep, but stop for a second because I see a plane for the first time. I look up and see a missile coming right into my living room. Dead.

I was hooked.

Biggest thrill for me was handing some of the id Software boys their @$$es in Quake, including John Romero. This was after-hours one night at E3 many years ago. This was the same E3 where the Red Annihilation tournament took place, when Dennis Fong (aka "Thresh") won John Carmack's Ferarri. The DWANGO guys tried to arrange a match-up between me and Thresh the next day, but he "respectfully declined" (we had played against each other many times before). I guess he wanted to enjoy his new ride.

Best time was when our clan (TDB) won 213 straight games on the Streets map in Vegas 1. That map is in Vegas 2 and were still ownig!! Still undefeated in Vegas 2 . If you have a clan that thinks they can take us BRING IT!!

When I had a negative Kill/Death ratio in Resistance, I played Hermanson (The guy that was ranked #1 in kills worldwide) in a 1v1. I pwnt him and embarrassed the hell out of him! And I teabagged him every time I killed him.

The scoreboard:

and the winning teabag!
