That would explain why there is no HD-DVD drive in the new 360.

I read the article and it is a bit unfair to post that as it is out of context, and he was actually having a swipe at Sony for including a BD drive in the PS3.

It could also show that they have doubt in the HD-DVD format itself. If they truly believed that HD-DVD would win or if they are really devoted to the format they would have included the drive.

Doubt from the second biggest supporter of HD-DVD does not look good for the format.

Default But isn't that what they are doing?

He stated that they did not want to charge customers 200.00 for something that may be the next BETAMAX. Funny they are doing that very thing. The HD-DVD add on is 200.00. Lets look at the past.

Beta had better picture at the start, so did HD-DVD
Beta had poor CE support, so does HD-DVD.
Beta had poor Studio support, so does HD-DVD.

So they are charging 200.00 extra for a drive that will be the next betamax, and to top it all of they are not even using if for game storage. What is going to happen when they have to make 4-5 disc games to keep up with games demands for more detail, levels, AI and the like?
