Default Flyboys!!

I don’t know if this is an EPIAR, I tried searching but I didn’t find anything.

I just finished watching Flyboys. I though the PQ and AQ (especially the AQ) was amazing in that movie. I don’t know if the PQ is “showcase worthy” because it wasn’t super detailed, but I thought the picture was vibrant and very eye-catching. I thought the movie was pretty good, too.

Anyone else feel the same, or different?

Franco looked great in Flyboys and the entire squadron was likable. My favorite scenes are the air battles - especially the climactic exploding zeppelin.

I thought the movie itself was just OK, but it is definitely loaded with good eyecandy.

Sheesh. Here we go, . Here are JJs cinco pesos about this movie.

I was historically offended on a scale almost as bad if not worse as Pearl Harbor...let's not even get started with accuracy - and the lines were cheesy, as was the acting - only Jean Reno had any real substance.

I usually like most movies - but this one...I just can't justify this one. I tried. Especially since it looked so promising in concept, but just lacking in execution.

Blah blah blah, opinions are like *******s, everyone has one, blah blah. I know. I'm sure you loved it. Just...I didn't.

I rented the BD and was impressed by the PQ and AQ. It was entertaining too. But, I am not buying the BD, at least not until I get all the must have BDS first.

You rarely find historical accuracy in movies, and I don't think this one was intended to be such a docudrama. It's only entertainment! If I want a history lesson, I'll watch the History Channel.

The acting, screenplay, plot, stunts, custumes, VFX, SFX, etc are all perfectly open to critique. I agree with you 100% on Jean Reno surpassing the other actor's performance. I also loved his performance in this movie and even more so in Pink Panther and The Da Vinci Code.

I know, that's how I make my peace with it - I guess it's me being a history nut that doesn't let me enjoy movies like that.

Most movies about history should have the following disclaimer: "Based loosely upon an historical event."

I loved the PQ on Pearl Harbor, but I kept thinking, "Dang, Ben and his buddy won WWII in the Pacific all by themselves!"

So if they held it on a fictional planet perhaps called Adolopololis
it would have been redeemable?

In Pearl Harbor? Maybe - did you see how the P-40s and A6M2s flew in the dogfight sequence? They seemed like X-Wings and TIE fighters. It looked like it was happening on another planet.

Yeah, she's really hot.
I just got done watching this like an hour ago. There are many great open shots that are great for HD. Good airplane detail, which mattered a lot to me. Overall and ok movie. The disc is filled with special features though, something which seems to be lacking in tons of blu releases.

I agree, when hollywood thinks they have to add a love story to a war movie, that is good sign that the war will be a subplot.

Course with war movies I can forgive if they decide to summarize specific events for timing purposes, and I can forgive if they were not able to get tiger tanks, and instead used Old American tanks, can't really expect the availability of specific model tanks.

Just paint them the right color.
