Default You can get 5.1 audio with headphones. I didn't know that.

info below...I just found out that 5.1 audio using any headphones is easy as plugging in your headphones to your DVD player. I guess I'm late to the party lol

The Dolby web site actually says that you can get 5.1 with any headphones.

TimeforDVD web site says:
Quote:
What do you need to use Dolby Headphone?

So what do you need to enjoy or try Dolby Headphone? There are at least two ways:
Dolby Headphone decoder: The most typical way to enjoy Dolby Headphone technology is to buy it as part of an A/V receiver, DVD-Video or DVD-Audio player, desktop or laptop PC, MP3 player, game console, portable stereo, or conventional and digital TV. In terms of software for your desktop or laptop computer, you can use Sonic's CinePlayer 1.5 Surround DVD player, which provides a Dolby Headphone soundtrack through the headphone jack. Though the possibilities of hardware incorporating Dolby Headphone is almost limitless, few products today actually offer Dolby Headphone processing. Visit this Dolby Headphone web page to see what other products are available with the Dolby Headphone feature.

Dolby Headphone pre-encoded soundtrack: The most readily available way to enjoy Dolby Headphone is a DVD-Video title that includes a Dolby Headphone pre-encoded soundtrack. Just plug in your favorite pair of headphones into the headphone jack of your DVD player or A/V receiver and select the Dolby Headphone soundtrack from the DVD menu and you're all set. Any set of headphones will do, but as with most things in audio, better quality or reference quality headphones will provide a richer sonic experience. Beyond that, no special hardware or decoder required because Dolby Headphone processing was already applied and the resulting signals are pre-encoded as a special Dolby Headphone soundtrack.
COOL! So all I do is plug in my headphones to my PS3 headphone jack and I'm ready to go!

I'll also add this new info from Amazon.

Quote:
Don't let a sleeping family keep you from your new action adventure movie, DTS 5.1 concert, or online video game tournament by setting up these Pioneer wireless surround sound headphones. The SE-DIR800C phones, which connect to any 5.1-channel source--including a DVD player, game console, digital cable box, or satellite receiver--are equipped with Dolby Headphone technology, which produces up to five virtual loudspeakers in your head by directing and reflecting the sound from each channel. The effect is a stunning surround experience, far more dimensional than with typical headphones, and, some say, even better than with a high-performance surround speaker system. The audio is natural sounding and doesn't cause "listener fatigue" as do many other headphones. The phones also work with a variety of surround formats, including Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Surround.
So regular phones will work but if you can ones that actually have Dolby Headphone technology then they will sound even better and apparently better than many home theater systems.

Oh and Sony MDR DS7000 7.1ch wireless headphones.
