xbox 360 question.....yea i know this isnt a game site but.... - Blu-ray Forum

Yea yea i know this isnt a game site and 360 doesnt do blu ( i think this is a good thing considering this makes the ps3 a better system

) anyway i noticed alot of you have 360's. well i had one and traded it for a wii. last week my brother got his 4th 360 replacement and said screw it and bought a xbox arcade console to basically start all over again

ANYWAY, i got his 4th 360 replacement and i want to ask the people who do have 360's a question.

(i do not have an intercooler btw) when i turn the system on and play for about 2 mins with no disc in, it sounds like a jet is taking off, i remember my old 360 and it was quite without the intercooler on, but this 360 seems like the fans have been rewired with a truck engine and it going up hill working over time. now my question is, is this good considering it cooling the system off to no end or is it bad considering it probly working that hard b/c the system is getting that hot in a matter of mins. honesty sounds like the ps3 fan test if you guys have see/heard that yet. so should i stick it to MS and call for the 5th replacement? either way i play the 360 for the arcade games like pacman challenge version and gears of war/bio shock/mass effect.....and thats about it everything else is on the ps3.

My question is if you know this isn't a gaming site, why ask it in this forum: the General Discussion of all things Bluray (which the xbox is not)? It would make a little more sense if you put in the PS3 forum and perfect sense if you put it in the Off-topic discussion thread where it belongs. Yeah, I'm a jerk, a jerk who doesn't want to talk about the f'in xbox.

I have all three systems and each has their great games. The system can be somewhat noisy when a disk is spinning since most of the noise comes from the drive.

its not supposed to be that loud. i recommend you contact MS (1 800 4my xbox) and ask them for a coffin to send it back. i have a 1337 and it runs quiet... i say send it back for a fifth. my 2 cents.

you know you could be a bit less of a jerk and just say that it should be in the OTD.

XBOX360 has high failure rate of 33% meaning 1 in 3 XBOX is a failure.
PS3 has less than 1% failure rate. iPOD, if I am not mistaken has 10%.

Just be careful when you decide to get another: remember that 1 in 3 XBOX360 is a failure. I wanted XBOX360, but considering the rate of failure, I have decided not to get any until the next XBOX

ok cool thanks to everyone for the help, i think i will send it back for another.....wierd thing is i just put a dvd in and the system doesnt run hot at all and the disc was cool after taking it out 2hrs later (no i do not watch dvd's in the 360, it was just a test) and to the guy that was being a grouch, no one liked you little remark so next time you get a wild hair up there just hit the back button like someone else had said earlier. oh and thanks for reassuring me that i said "this is not a game site" dee-dee-dee (via Carlos Mencia)

Evey 360 ive heard is loud. My friend got his on launch. It's still loud. I doubt your 360 is tripping out but who knows Even when i play at other friends houses it no diff. Though for the 360s life i hope this fan dont slow down so it doesnt catch fire. If the PS3 is this quiet MS could have atleast tried. Even my over clocked pc with 7 fans doesnt sound like its in afterburner mode.

I wouldn't worry about it.

If it breaks then call MS again. If not, then great. No need to worry about problems that haven't occurred, or over analyze things.

Agreed.

Sometimes my 360 sounds like it's a jet engine, and I have to look over at it to make sure it's not taking off from my bookcase. Other times, I don't even notice it.

I've had mine for about a year and a half with no issues other than a loud fan -- and honestly, it seems to run quieter than it used to. Though that may be a good thing...

Don't overanalyze it. Use it till it dies and then get another.
