Dumb Question maybe? I got my Integra and ran the Audyssy setup on it, Now I Have a different Amplifier wiith Different wattage ratings.
would it benefit me to run the Audyssy setup again or is it a waste of time? I downgraded from an ADCOM GFA-7807 to a Rotel RMB 1095. ( if you ask me its not a down grade but im running 200 watts per channel instead of 300). The adcom seemed harsh and grainy where the rotel is smooth. I was able to sell the ADCOM for close to what i paid for it and the Rotel I got a sweet deal on. that and the Rotel although heavy at 75 lbs is much easier to move than the 118lbs of the ADCOM Last edited by hoogoosedmoose41; 04-16-2008 at 01:23 AM. |

By the way, I have the same Pre/Amp/LCD as you. Good stuff
![]() I had to rerun Audyessy after I replaced my seating (sweet spot was 5 inches off) and again after I updated the firmware/DSP software on the Integra. When running Audyessy calibration, I connect a 25 foot HDMI cable to the second output on the Pre and then connect up a small LCD in another room. Occasionally the fan noise on the Sony LCD is enough to disrupt the calibration. Have you ever had this problem? In another week or two I am planning to install the Audyessy pro license and learn how to calibrate the environment using the Audyessy Pro calibration kit and my laptop. This should be interesting... |

I think the purists will actually tell you not to run it at all. I've tried using the Audyssey on an Onkyo 805 as well as the one Yamaha uses (can't remember the name) and I've gotten mixed results on both. I ran it several times one night on an 805 I used to own. Nobody home and it was perfectly quiet (except for my breathing), but after 3 calibrations the results varied. The same is true on the Yamaha. I prefer to stick with my good old SPL meter. It takes longer, but I always get better results.

I ran it again didnt take too long either for the trouble.. the settings were slightly different. When i origionally got the pre/pro i did calibrate it with the Rat shack SPL... I got better results with the auddsy... the only thing ive noticed is there is 2 modes when running an SACD you can either run it direct dsd with or without audddsy... I prefer sacd in the direct mode.

I find that if you are going to run it, to leave the mic in one position.
Usually where I am sitting, center of the seat, ear level. When moving it around, I don't think I have ever had it come to the exact same settings. Granted I only have a 605, and it doesn't do as many test positions as the higher models |

Which Audyessy will. It has EQ ablilty in each channel to compensate for them at the microphone location. |
