Default Denon DHT-488BA vs. Onkyo, etc

My future father in law is going to be getting hometheater equipment in the upocoming months. This includes a tv and sound system. He is currently looking at the Denon DHT-488BA. I want to make sure that he is buying the right receiver, at a reasonable price with enough features to last him awhile. Can anyone provide insight into how this model might compare to say the Onkyo family of HTIB? Thanks

I have been interested in upgrading my Onkyo set-up, because of how well it's done for me. I decided to research the Onkyo 805, 905, and 975. I've been using our forum (Blu-ray.com) to see what people think of these units. I'm glad I did, there is some type of firmware problem with these units that has not been resolved yet. So I'm going to stay with what I've got for now till Onkyo takes care their problems.

You really have to do your homework when you make these choices. I did my homework with my Blu-ray player, and still came up with a lemon.
