Question Any word from Denon?

I was just wondering if anyone had any info regarding a possible Denon BD Player? I am interested in how they plan on attacking this format situation. I like their regular DVD players (especially the non-Faroujda models) and have quite a few clients who are waiting.

Thanks in advance.

well I work at a hifi store in Denmark, and I am also interested in this question.

Actually I wrote Denon recarding sourround-receivers with HDMI 1,3 and BD player...... In short, they told me: "We will certainly have to wait until after the CES show and the dust settles to see what’s coming".

Denon is a small enough company that developing something like a BD player would be quite a risk for them. I don't expect to see "boutique" BD player until 2008 or later.

I would like to see preprocessors that can decode the new audio codecs though.

Well, given the current prices I suspect there won't be a high demand for a player with even higher pricetag, unless it offers something really out of this world

There is a massive software component of HD disc players. Only large companies could take that on if it had to be done from scratch.

But reference designs will have all the key software good to go.

BD has it now with Sigma Designs. Microsoft just announced they have teamed up with Broadcomm to bring the same thing to HD DVD.

Come to think of it, didn't Toshiba and Microsoft sign a deal in the spring of 2005 to work on this?! Here we are 18 months later and NOTHING has come of it. Toshiba is still putting out their Linux boxes.

Oooo, trouble in paradise?

Well, after searching everywhere for some Denon blu-ray news, I've come to my own conclusion that there is no player forthcoming from them anytime soon. I think maybe in about six months time, when they'll finally release their first hdmi 1.3 receiver, then we might hear something about a possible blu-ray player. I wouldn't hold my breath for one in 2007 though.
