Question PS3 firmware ver 2.30

does this update support DTS 7.1 HDMA? under audio settings it just has one line for dts and one line for dolby digital and then like a dozen or so lines for PCM (2 ch, 5 ch, 7ch, etc, at different frequencies). you need to have audio out set to linear PCM correct? I am still a little confused about this but I did notice that on I am Legend, in L-PCM the sound was much broader and I guess thats because of the discrete signals to each channel? but are there exceptions? when should you select bitstream for audio out? also if I do auto for audio options, it leaves a couple of PCM lines unchecked. should I manually check them becasue it says I may damage my speakers at certain frequencies? thanks in advance to anyone who has knowledge of any of this.

Check this out. There are over 200 comments but i've help a few people with this. All i will say is as long as you have ticked the 'DTS' box in the PS3 menu, you should be fine. Play a movie that has DTS HD MA, select that sound option, the hit the select button. I have posted a couple of pictures of what it lookslike.
