Default Component versus HDMI ?

I wonder if this article is correct. It claims there are lots of issues with HDMI and components are actually better.

i think from the fact that mfgs of consumer AV products are going with HDMI, it doens't matter if component is somehow technically "better". also, i'm guessing that some devices won't output 1080p on component simply because they only allow it through HDMI (someone keep me honest on this one).

It talks about HDMI Video only and has valid points, but if your at all interested in Sound, then HDMI is the way to go...

Yes, that's correct but component can pass thru 1080p. It's for copy-protection reasons that it is restricted to HDMI.

I'm surprise esp abt the comment in this article that PQ is better on component.

I think it depends on the application. That article comes from alot of installers who don't want to be making regular service calls about issues and problems. Most people here are rather hands on when it comes to their equipment, people getting installers might not know the difference, or how to fix it if there is a problem.

you know what... they both look great... period, HDMI is just newer, and handles audio... its all subjective, but if you run great lengths of wire, component has many advantages... its hard to deny it...
have you seen a quality 100 ft hdmi cable... its rediculously thick... i would choose component if that was my case lucky i only have 3 ft from player to tv... wooo

you can not disagree that hdmi has not had issues and still has issues. in my opinion it is like windows and will continue to have issues 1.1 1.3.a 1.3b etc.

I use component for my digital HD cable on my 40" 720p/1080i TV and it looks great. I use the HDMI on the PS3. I've also had the 360 hooked up, with the vga, and it looks similar. I guess I can't really tell a big difference since my tv is only a 40" LCD and it's limited at 720p.
