universale to make THD discs? - Blu-ray Forum

oka im sorry but i am just dying to know this i know lg couldn't make a hd dvd player but they could make a blu-ray hd dvd combo player so do u think universal might start encoding movies with this new THD disc? this would help them cut there losses. i have know back ground info on this because i can't find any but dose any one think that this could be possible?

Anything is possible.

Universal was expected to make am announcement at CES, and they announced absolutely nothing. It has shocked and saddened the HD DVD community. And Universal would have had to realize it would.

During all this, we see Warner has this brand new THD idea, and that they are preparing to deploy it later this year (after or while doing the Blu-ray catchup). Did Warner present the idea to Universal before CES? Was the pullout due to Universal considering the situation. Did Warner convince Universal that THD was the course of action that protected Universal's interests?

We shall see. It certainly makes sense.
