It should be fine, I got a cheap HDMI cable off EBay for under $9 shipped and it works perfectly fine. I've seen this place posted several times on here too,

As long as it works now you are good to go, you will gain nothing by buying a more expensive cable.

I cannot say enough good things about monoprice.com. There is a reason that you see everyone post their site....they are the best. Super cheap, super dependable, and very fast shipping.

There shouldn't be any issues if the cable is short. If you are using a long cable, need to be careful with 1080p. I presume that you share this cable for both video and audio. If this is used for audio only, there is no issue at all.

The only difference is if you're spanning a long distance, and need 1080p. If so, you need a certified 1.3a cable (Monoprice has them for like $10). Otherwise, you're fine with any cable. My whole house is wired with Monoprice - I can't say enough about them.

If you bought a cheap HD TV a use a cheap cable if you bought an expensive HD TV use expensive cable. You should spend about 10% on cables, that you spent on your entire system. I have used Audioquest cables for years and just love them ! I have used cheap cables when I was young and then found out what kind of POWER a good cables like Audioquest can deliver ! Here is a great piece I found about cable theory and what it is intended to do.

There are many threads on this subject here, definatly a lot of evidence that Monoprice cable are as good or better than expensive cables. I have 2 Monoprice 6 footers and don't have any issues.

The less expensive the cable the better
Take the money you would have saved and put it into content.

There is someone who posts here who has these awesome links on his signature section and one of them is why cheap HDMI cables work fine.

Basically, the short form is, because it's a digital signal, the devices need only send and receive binary (1's and 0's) information and there is pretty much no way to distort that. A fuzzy 1 and a fuzzy 0 will still be read as a 1 or a zero.

I still like to buy cables with gold tips, I guess because I'm old fashioned that way, but other then that, you don't have to worry anymore.

I would imagine the same holds true for optical cable.

This is not true. Its just a myth companies like Monster Cable have gotten people to believe.

While you can find as many opinions as there are people on this forum, you will find that for short runs with major brand equipment any cable will work. For runs more than 2-3 meters though you will find that the lesser cost cables will not pass the HDCP sync up at least not every time. I have used Monoprice, Blujeans and others and had poor to no signal at lengths over 3 meters but I have had no problems with Monster and Black Box cables up to 25 meters. Yes they cost more but so does my time.

Yes. This sounds strange. If you have a good quality display, say 1080p, you would need a better HDMI cable than if you had a 720p display for a long cable length. If the cable is short, say less than 5 meters, probably you would get away with any reasonable cable.
