Default Need advice

Need a receiver that will be used with a home theater consisting of Polk RM6750 speakers and a PS3 will be the blu-ray player. I will we be connecting everything through HDMI. Im on a budget of $500. I've been eyeing the new Onkyo TX-SR606 that will be coming out soon. Should I wait and get Onkyo's new 606 or is there something else I should get.

I would get the Onkyo 705. I am unfamiliar with the 606 though.

Print off the specs between the two. Check them out and see what looks better. An old school side by side checkmate. I'm betting on the most recent model. But you never know. Don't forget to go listen to each unit side by side if possible. I have been burned by blind buys in the past.

I agree with the above post about the Onkyo 705. I think that it would be your best bet in value for price.

I'm a big fan of Pioneer receivers. I have three including the VSX-92 Elite. I'm happy with them all- they're easy to setup (using Pioneer's auto-calibration MCACC) and sound great. They have one for every budget. The VSX-1017TXV is currently about $350 and has two HDMI inputs and 1080P pass-through.

Not sure of your experience level, but here's a short article (with some shopping tips) that may help: http://www.finishabasement.com/home_...a_receiver.htm.

Oh- and THANKS for all you're doing for our country! Come home safe!
