Default why would DENON "cheat on" its customers?

I was utterly surprised to discover that the brand new receiver I had gotten from denon avr 1908 was NOT the model 1908 I was hoping to get.

When I opened the box and examine things before connection to my speakers, something seemed different from the instruction I had downloaded and gotten used to beforehand. It didn't matter much after the setup everything sounded just right, but then while putting things together I came across something I thought would be a mistake(silly me to think such thing would be my fault). Through one of the settings for the Hdmi I noticed the resolutions from 480i,p 561i,p(not sure) and finally 1080i and 720p...and no more.

I did some search and discovered the problem. Apparently there would be 2 models 1908!!! while the manuals I received with the receiver resemble the actual machine I noticed that the instruction manual I had downloaded from denon and which stated USA in the picture of the connectors in the back was different in the back side.

I said it didn't matter such difference, after all Denon a serious company nevermind releasing 2 models with the same number would be careful enough to give them the same issues. NO!!! Apparently the one I got would be a non usa model and would not be able to cover the 1080p hdmi ability for my set without any full hd video let alone the hd audio, for which I was trying to update my setup in the first place.

Does anyone know of this situation? is this normal in the world of technology and services? If so, what are we, the cheated customers, supposed to do?

Please help, I still have some sort of hope I was the one screwing some setting up or is this receiver lost to 1080p?

See you(cyber) spac E-folks...
