Default Viewing .m2t files on PS3?

I bought a Canon HV20 about a month ago before I went on vacation. Very nice HD video camcorder, BTW. Since it only recorded to HDV tapes, I figured I'd just use the camcorder to watch the movies directly, connecting it via HDMI to the TV.

This works great. The movies and pictures look beautiful on the big screen. But, the hassle of having to fast forward/rewind through a tape to get to the scenes that you want to watch can be annoying.

So, I was just poking around the net and saw that the PS3 can play the .m2t files that the HV20 records to! Has anyone tried this yet? I'm at work and can't wait to go home and try this out. I've put some .m2t files on a couple of USB sticks that I can't wait to plug into the PS3 to see if it actually plays them.

If this does work, I will just be amazed again at the versatility of the PS3. I can burn the movies to DVDs and watch them without having to worry about playing them back from tape on the camcorder.

EDIT: Sorry, I may have posted this in the wrong forum. Mods please move if you prefer it to be in the PS3 forum.

Yes, PS3 plays .m2t files perfectly. It plays it from any media.
