Default Monoprice.com Optical - Redux

I posted a while back and got some good feedback on the quality of their optical cables, and I'm about to place an order for one, and just wondered which people would opt for:

6ft. with fancy metal connector - $6.50
6ft. cable - $3.50

Does the 'fancy' connector make any difference? I know it's only 3 bucks, but if it's really a non-issue I'll just save myself the 3 bucks and buy an extra HDMI cable or something.

Thanks!

The non fancy cable seems to be a little more flimsy. Personally I would go with that one. It may be a little more expensive, but it would be more durable.

Does seem like a good read, but TMI -- LOL; wish I had the time right now to sit down and read it.

Honestly, just wondered if there was a reason to pay the extra 3 bucks. For a tad more in terms of durability, the 6.50 may be the way to go.

Thanks, though!

I used a ~20' optical cable from monoprice....the cheaper one, and it worked fine.

But for the price, it wouldnt hurt to go for the higher one just to be safe.

Yeah, at that price, probably is a no-brainer. Just wondered if anyone would vehemently instruct me to keep my 3 bucks.

LOL -- try doing like a buck-fifty or something. Talk about embarassing!

Luckily, I think they take paypal and I have some money in my pot.

Non-issue -- just found out Monoprice is located in the same city I'm in.

The four bucks I'll save on shipping will go for the more expensive one.

Thanks, Wicky. I agree. The metal ones do look nice. Fancy, even.

I couldn't be happier knowing they are a short 4 miles from my apt.!
