Default Sex and the City - Complete Series (plus both movies) - November 2nd, 2021

Warner / HBO will finally be releasing Sex and the City The Complete series on Blu-ray on November 2nd. The set will also come with both films. The series has undergone a new HD remastering, where all episodes were scanned in 4K. You can see a preview of that in the video below.

Quote:
Sex and The City: The Complete Series + 2 Movie Collection will feature 96 unforgettable episodes of the iconic series plus Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2 in one, elegant must-own box set. It’s the ultimate collection for any Sex and the City fan! Experience the friendships and the fashion in gorgeous high-definition and catch up on all the episodes and films before the highly anticipated next chapter, And Just Like That…, debuts on HBO Max later this year. Sex and The City: The Complete Series + 2 Movie Collection is priced to own at $179.99 SRP ($194.99 Canada). Sex and the City: The Complete Series, Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2 are also available to own on Digital via purchase from digital retailers, and to stream on HBO Max.

Winner of seven Emmy® Awards, and the first cable show to win Outstanding Comedy Series, Sex and the City celebrates the bond of female friendship. It’s a salute to New York City, and a celebration of fashion and style. It’s a revolutionary series that broke boundaries, changed television and liberated women. Sex and the City set cultural and fashion trends, taught women to have honest conversations about relationships, and showed viewers how to express their individuality through fashion and style. Now fans can re-live every iconic scene of the trail blazing series and films in dazzling, eye-catching high-definition.

Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, a New York-based writer who explores and experiences the unique world of Manhattan’s dating scene, chronicling the mating habits of single New Yorkers. The series also stars cast regulars Kim Cattrall as PR executive Samantha Jones, who’s seen — and done — it all; Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, still trying to hold on to the idea of happily ever after; and Cynthia Nixon as corporate lawyer and mother Miranda Hobbes, a pragmatist trying to balance the idea of love with the realities of life.

So this would use a new master right? I heard the DVD masters were bad.

The negatives were scanned in 4K for the new remasters that debuted on HBO Max. You can see what they look like in the trailer posted in the first post.

Has something in common with the show then (couldn't resist, you set it up perfectly, I actually don't mind the show, for Kristin Davis alone!)

Dude those DVDs are horrific by today's standard! I put a random episode of season 3 on a year ago and was shocked by how crappy it was... I've actually held off on a rewatch because of it. But it would make sense with the new series they'd start pumping the franchise for more money again.

The remasters on HBO Max are a night/day difference from the horrible DVDs, especially during the early seasons. I just made my way through the entire series for the umpteenth time, and I still love it now as much as I did when they first aired. A BD set would be an immediate purchase!

Hopefully they do it right, and not throw all seasons discs into one giant clam shell case.

So, is this another tilt and scan job to get from 1.33:1 to 1.78:1? I expect they've had some technician(s) "meticulously" re-frame each shot "under the supervision" of a series creator, but since this era of TV seems permanently destined for widescreen regardless of anything else, I just want to know that it's not a simple crop job or complete bastardization like The Wire.

I'm not the biggest fan of the show (I think I tuned out completely after the first two or three seasons), but I love Kim Catrrall, so I will probably buy it. I have to say, I'm kind of shocked HBO are bothering with a Blu-ray release, but I guess this augurs well for Six Feet Under and (please God in OAR) Oz.

I got an email from WB saying Own on High-Definition for the First Time Ever! but the store links direct to the DVD set. I hope this changes. https://view.updates.warnerbros.com/...34526efc10df23

It's 16 discs, Digipaks of some kind are inevitable if you want a more stylish shelf-friendly set. I mean, I guess they could go the route of The Wire re-release, but that'd be ugly. The Sopranos box set isn't too bad, so I suppose they could have did one like that too, but it probably wouldn't look as classy as what we're seeing here, and given the target demographic, I imagine they'd prefer this packaging.

Digipak typically have a disc tray though, don't they? Digibooks are when we get into cardboard slot atrocities.
