Default Blu-ray and HDTV Question

Hi everyone.

I'm new to the forum. I have a quick questions and would love if someone could clear this up for me. I recently bought a 32" Samsung, the new 650 series which features full 1080p HD. I also bought a PS3. Here's my problem:

My Blue ray movie which I rented (Fantastic 4 - Silver Surfer) only plays in 1920x1080i. My PS3 display setting are in 1080p, but the TV tells me it is in 1080i. I have a 1080p wire, and the TV is definately compatible. Anyone know why it only plays in 1080i? Is it the movie? Or do I have something wrong? Thanks so much in advance.

James
