Sony Playstation Phone?? - Blu-ray Forum

The Wall Street Journal cites that "people familiar with the matter" say Sony is about to release a Playstation phone to compete with Apple. Seems pretty cool, as I'm sick of my Iphone. Also, I think the Sony Ericson phone is one of the best out there IMO, so the quality on something like this would be top notch.

Associating the phone with the Playstation brand would be a bad idea because it would limit your consumer base. There are only so many people who would buy a phone with "Playstation" written on it regardless if they like the system. Sony Ericsson on the other hand would be cool as I've always had respect for their phones (although I'm not sure if they are still together).

I love my iphone a helluva lot, but I'd definitely seriously consider this.

If I can get it on a free upgrade I'm in. About time I replaced my ageing Ericsson. Must have had it over 2 years now

I thought they were going to do this a year or so ago, but abandoned it last minute to keep the Playstation brand seperate

i think they should steer clear of this. They need to keep the playstation and ericsson brands seperate, i just cannot see it working.

Yeah, that went well. Sony shouldn't do this. Big mistake if you ask me. But hey, a lot of people thought the iphone was going to flop but it didn't, so who knows. But then again, Sony doesn't really have any sort of phone provider. So...

N-Gage had unremarkable original games and ports from lower-tier developers, big publisher EA/SEGA "support" didn't count for much.

It handled poorly as a handheld gaming device and as a phone until the second version but still wasn't core-gaming grade as far as the buttons and dpad were concerned.

Nokia were well out of their depth.

I think the idea sounds great, we'll see about how the implementation of that idea pans out if and when this thing is released. Ive been sick of my iPhone for quite a while now and would love to get something like this.

It looks like a regular phone with the psp logo at the back. i guess thats why they arent showing the front.
