Hey Guys,
I have a question maybe some of you can give me some thoughts on. I have a subwoofer, Cambridge Soundworks, and i recently got a new tv stand and so i had to move some components around. Anyway, the main issue is that, i like to have the subwoofer plugged into my Panamax Conditioner and now, the Power Cord isnt long enough to reach where i feel is optimal for the subwoofer to sit. I could just plug it into another AC outlet but i typically wouldnt recommend doing such. Any ideas?? I checked Cambridge also and they dont sell a longer power cord... |

A bit off topic, but this thread brought up a question I had. A lot of receivers have AC outlets on the back of them. Is having a subwoofer plugged into one of these outlets a bad idea? As long as the receiver is protected, the subwoofer should be fine, right?

Subwoofer should be fine, yes. However, depending on how much power the sub's amp draws, the receiver may not be, as it may not be able to supply it with enough power without drawing from its reserves.

Could always DIY a custom length PC if you're capable. We have a thread here that might be of help to you if interested. Someday I'm gonna get around to making a custom PC for my sub as I need a longer one as well.

There are a lot of companies out there that sell power cords in different lengths. As long as you get one with the same specs as the current cord you'll be fine. The specs are probably stamped on one or both of the plugs, or maybe even on the cord itself somewhere. You shouldn't have to spend over $20 on one. Just Google replacement power cord and you'll get a lot of hits. I've personally dealt with Cables To Go when I needed a cable a few months ago. Great customer service, knowledgeable staff and fast shipping. I would recommend checking with them if you want to get a new cord for your sub.
