Default More AACS breakage by Doom9

Here we go, more HD DVD titles have been broken by the Doom9 team, so much for all of that Muslix is a corporate mole business, it seems like the real deal. Notice they have broken KK, it could be disastrous to HD DVDif their main exclusive title is decrypted and released into the wild for anyone to download at 1080p.

It should be pointed out that a software player has been hacked. Not AACS or HD DVD.

The spinmeisters will say the same problem exists for BD. But, since the problem was in an HD DVD player, that is a rather odd claim. It MIGHT exist in their BD player. It might not.

And, although I'm really against the idea, it is interesting to note that a hacked HD DVD title could be transfered to BD. The other way is impossible without a re-encoding (which would be a mess). HD DVD can't handle the BD title bandwidth.

Another CP feature of BD. Higher bandwidth prevents use of its titles on cheap Chinese HD DVD players.

Remember how HD DVD dudes always said that BD extra capacity and bandwidth was irrelevant, overkill and unnenessary.

Does really anyone prove he/she got a title key? As far as I know, NO ONE showed it, what someone had done is just made a tool which decrypt AACS encrypted file based on publicly available specification. Everyone who has programming skill can do that job.

Its real. I just saw Serenity being passed around, 19.6 gigs. I forsee BD-R Blank media becoming VERY worthwhile to have every Universal flick on blu-ray now!!!

I read one post describing how it is done. "First go to Microsoft's site and get this tool..." Jeeez...

Edit Here was what I read(don't worry this is not how the whole process works. It's way to confusing for me to follow along):
"well i was missing the SHA1 hash number and now king king is working on a non-HDCP vcard in powerdvd... amazing stuff guyz..."
....
"For those interested in getting the SHA1 hash for the [...] files. I used this method.
Download this tool from Microsoft.
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...90-x86-enu.exe
After downloading, install to Windows\System32 directory.
Open command prompt and type:...."

Lots of people have the source code now, so they can all do it, not just Muslix.

I know someone who has found a volume key of his own and ripped the disc.

This is for real and the capability is spreading fast.

If you are going to try to send it in an email, use whalemail. Large file size are usually not excepted on mail servers. Whalemail gives them access to it for download from a link that you would send in the body of an email.

I don't think it would be worth sending all 20GB, the torrent file will be enough for the moment.

Be polite and do not troll or spam them. Be professional

This is what I sent them

Dear Universal Studios,

I'd just like to notify you that your HD-DVD Kingkong, Serenity, and 12 Monkeys have been cracked and the content for those movies are available for downloading in torrent sites. These pirates are cracking your new HD-DVD movies in rapid rate on a daily basis. In a couple of months, most of Universal HD-DVD contents should all be available for free downloading on the internet.

DRM protection in HD-DVD has been proven not enough to combat piracy. It's your decision to make, it's your money to lose, it's up to you to take action.

As a fan of HD movies and an honest buyer, I despise these pirates. End piracy and end this HD format war.

Sincerely,

a High Definition fan

I did the same as Petra.

Quote:
Dear Sirs,

I would like to inform you that whilst browsing the internet I cam across many websites claiming to have bypassed the new AACS copy-protection system employed on HD DVD and Blu-ray. I would like to inform you that a number of HD DVDs have been 'ripped' and are now available to download from peer-to-peer websites. As of now, the HD DVDs that are available to download are Apollo 13, King Kong, Serenity, and 12 Monkeys.

There seems to be a concerted effort by these pirates to freely distribute full 1080p resolution, 20-30GiB copies of Universal movies, and I would like to inform you of their efforts so that you might be able to stop them.

Yours Sincerly,

Max
I decided not to big up the extra defences on BD to avoid coming across as a fanboy, plus I am sure they know what BD+ does for them better than we do.

Yeah I didn't mention BD also so not to come across as a fanboy, but I did mention that I despise piracy and format war, and I hope they're smart enough to make the connection
