I know most of the movies have already been announced for Blu Ray, but while browsing on Target.com I noticed that they have placeholders for a number of movies without release dates i.e. Godfather, Heat, Ben-Hur, LOTR, Lawrence of Arabia etc. Anyone else seem to think this would indicate there's a good chance there could be some big releases this holiday season?

Well I suppose my point is that is it likely that they would have placeholders for movies if they weren't expected to come out for another 2-4 years? You know there are studios that are going to want to make a splash this holiday season and as of now Shawshank Redemption is the closest thing to a blockbuster that has an actual release date.

I guess that squashes my theory then. I suppose I should rephrase things; since there haven't been any major studio release dates doesn't it seem likely that these titles will be the major holiday releases? You know there are going to be at least a few major holiday releases and it'd likely be ones that have already been previously announced.

Could some of these be released during this holiday season? Sure, but I am guessing the answer is more then likely no. Some of these placeholders have been up for more than a year. There are some placeholders for movies that will never be released in the near future. Just for reference Star Wars also has a place holder: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Tril...dp/B000PMG16U/ http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Tril...dp/B000PMLFRA/ So does Indiana Jones: http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Ind...dp/B000NQRE9Q/ I think Amazon creates these based on X number of searches for a specific product. |
