He guys, ran into a total WTF moment today.
Purchased a Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatality sound card as an upgrade from onboard sound and hopefully see some better performance on some movies that seem to have issues. Got all the software installed new updated and everything seems to be working fine with the sound card. However, I also purchased Resident Evil: Degeneration and went to go play it on my new HTPC setup. ArcSoft Total Media theater just stopped working, will load up, but wont play ANY movies (DVD or BD). I have all the updates (V2.1.6...something or other). I also have PowerDVD 7.3 it will not play anything either. What does play has no sound and usually just locks up as the movie starts (Menu system seems to work fine on both DVD and BD). The question is this, anyone have any issues with this card or any updates associated with RE ![]() I was able to play a standard DVD under windows media center, but could not get TMT to play any movie with media center. I've uninstalled, reinstalled both applications, ran the updates on both a few times over, as well as reinstalled latest firmware on the GGC_H20L BD/HD-DVD combo drive. Suggestions on where to start? specs if needed Asus P5LD2 MB with Vista 32 and 4GB Ram (well 3 visible) Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty LG GGC-H20L v1.03 Any help, suggestions or words of encouragement will be greatly accepted. |

It appears that since you can play regular movies, it's something with Bu-Ray, but the latest version of PowerDVD supports True-HD, and could be freaking out over which way to go to send audio out. You might need to contact Creative. I considered getting a Fatality card, and rejected it after talking with them about it. I have on-board Intel sound drivers on my Blu HTPC, running out optically, and it sounds just fine. |

I just eventually got fed up with it and removed the card. Hopefully I can reinstall Total Media Theater and PowerDVD and get them working again. If not, a format might be in my future. Never fails, no matter how many different components I install, it is usually the sound card that screws up my systems the most.
oh well, lesson learned. |
