Default Is every Blu-ray 1080p?

I'm asking this because on every preview/review of every blu ray on this site states that its 1080p.

Suely its a given now isnt it?

If it isnt, which available Blu-rays do not present in 1080p?

I know there are some that are 1080i. I believe most of these are Concerts or TV programs. I do not know if there are any lower then 1080i.

Exactly right. When T3 was originally pressed it was only 1080i but they had an exchange program for the misincoded disks.

I know for a fact that Lost Season 3 was encoded at 1080p

Off the top of my head Galápagos, Destiny's Child, Discovery Atlas series' Australia/Brasil/China/Italy Revealed, Nature's Journey, Nine Inch Nails Live: Beside You In Time, and a few more are in 1080i, because they're from different sources that are not created in 24p, but instead in 30p, 25p/50i, and 60i. Your BD player or display will deinterlace them to 30p to 60p depending on the source.

However, if you used 720p on a TV show for example, you could cram in more episodes per disk. The Office for example, doesn't have to have 1080p to look good. You could probably fit the entire season onto two 50Gb blu-rays in 720p format. They could put a SD show on blu. You could have the entire Cheers series on a couple of blu-rays. I'm not saying they should, just saying they could.

Most concerts to date are 1080i based on what I know. e.g. Celine Dion, Shakira.. They are in 16x9 as well and have used HD cameras for filming. All movies that I know of are in 1080p. I haven't seen any blu-rays in 720p.

As far as I know correct. I also know of no 720P titles.

As a general rule if it's a movie it will be 1080P as these are mostly shot on film or Cine Alta types of cameras. If it's TV sources, then it is likely to be 1080i.

Eg. Galapagos (BBC) is 1080i, some versions of Panet Earth (BBC) are 1080i, but there is another version which is 1080P.

No, the Shakira Blu-ray is 1080p (1080p24?). Mariah Carey is 1080i (1080i60)

2.40:1 movies are presented in "1080p" - but if you don't watch the black bars, you're not seeing all 1080 lines

That isnt possible, The audio tracks are what take up the most space on a blu-ray. If you are re-releasing a dvd on Blu-ray just for the sake of saying its on blu-ray then they are wasting their time and might as well sold it on dvd as that isnt what a BD owner wants

The video takes up a lot more space than the audio.

it depends on what kind of audio is used and how many voice tracks there are so like if there is 4 audio tracks and a couple are like in Uncompressed and Dolby TrueHD then no video will not take as much but if you have like a Dolby Digital title then yes

So which Blu-ray discs are there where the audio tracks take up more space than the video? And how much space does the video take up on those discs, and how much space does the audio on those discs?

In theory this could occur but in practice highly unlikely.
