Default Hitchcock movies on Blu-ray

I know Psycho and North by Northwest are already out. Has anyone heard anything about when the other Hitchcock movies will be come out on Blu-ray? Particularly Vertigo . . .

'The Birds' is supposed to come out this year at some point. I have it pre-ordered. No news that I am aware of on other titles.

I'm excited for The Birds, but really want Rear Window and Vertigo. The seemingly "unloved" Marnie would be welcome too............and Lifeboat, Notorious...........or all of them!

It would not surprise me to see almost all the popular Hitchcock movies out on Blu-ray within 24-months. They sell decent numbers and I suspect the transfers to Blu-ray have already been done, and now are just waiting for the marketing people to decide upon a release window.

I like Lifeboat, but apparently the negative was damaged by water, which you can see on the DVD. I don't think this one will ever make it to blu...

My top votes for Hitchcock on blu would be...

Rebecca (won for best picture for pete's sake!)
Spellbound
Notorious
Rope
Stage Fright
Strangers on a Train
Dial M for Murder (they could put this in 3d, of course)
Rear Window
The Man Who Knew Too Much
Vertigo...

I'd really like to see Vertigo on Blu. If Universal does so, it might be:

A.) Taken from a 65mm interpositive from a previous 1990's restoration.
B.) Remastered from the original VistaVision negatives scanned at 8K and framed in 16:9

It's most likely going to be decision A for Universal. Big studios these days don't care about movies over 10 years old when putting them on Blu, with exceptions from Disney and recently Warner Bros. (who did a stunning transfer for North by Northwest). I really like to see decision B although it will less likely happen unless the film hits an age with a multiple of 5.

According to Bill Hunt on the Bits Warner Bro's George Feltenstein says House of Wax and Dial M for Murder will be released in true 3D in 2013.

In 3D? I doubt that.

Actually, upgraded retro-3D (Hitch didn't direct House of Wax, you know) was the stated reason WHY they were releasing them, but any other week of the year, the word would be "MAY be working on it for 2013".

(During ComicCon week, facts are what we make them, out of the barest skeleton quotes. )

George says he's working on them, probably for 2013.

Default Hitchcock to avoid

In the UK ITV have issued a Blu Ray of " The 39 Steps " and it has been quite rightly given a rating of 2. Bad bad bad. Very poor quality - almost VHS standard. AVOID.
