Whats the difference between hdmi inputs and outputs? - Blu-ray Forum

I apologize for the question but im not familiar with the audio aspects of things. I was planning to get an onkyo 875 and I noticed it has 4 hdmi inputs and 1 output, so my question was what is the output used for? How would I connect my ps3 to the receiver to get hd sound and picture? Thanks in advance

The output goes to your TV. Connect the PS3 via HDMI to one of the inputs on the receiver and you'll be good to go.

So how would I be able to get 5.1 sound on my directv receiver?
