Circuit City? Blockbuster? I'm in the minority that hopes the two can stay afloat. Gotta keep at least some type of pressure on Best Buy, because more often than not their Blu-ray prices are horrid. Amazon has become my number one seller for Blu-rays, and I never bought DVDs from them.

Really, when you go in these stores, they just do not stack up to any of the other modern retail stores. Their layout sucks, their prices really aren't that good, and their service is quite lacking. I'm surprised this hasn't happened earlier, though, as I've said before, it's sad to see a chain that has been around since the 50s go under.

what is up with people saying this stupid crap? are you nuts or somthing? yes CC sucks ass so i will agree with everyone on that BestBuy own CC but then again alot of retailers own BestBuy's and CC's "retail" prices.
ANYWAY, whats up with the blockbuster hate? i rent my BD's and games there and their online service kills netflix. if BB doesnt have the bd instock online they always have it in the store and thats where the 5 in store trade or 1.99 trade up come into play. i dont get it b/c you people know that everyone saying Blockbuster sucks or to hell with them will be the 1st to say " oh boo hoo where do i rent bd's now?" if they close down. and plus im a gamer and as far i ve read on here there are alot of gamers so where the hell would i get my games? crappy gamefly? no thanks 21 bucks a month for unlimited game rentals at blockbuster is better. game suck i can take it back in 5mins and swap it out, had gamecrap if a game sucked i waited 7-10 days for the replacement. So stop the blockbuster sucks crap, hollywood video and movie gallery suck! no bd's at all. plus your a moron if you pay 8 bucks or 6 to rent a single bd or game, get the passes they pay off. |

I think you guys are misinterpretting the article. Blockbuster is trying to buy CC with the help of an investor. They need to go over the books first to value the stock. In the end, they may not buy them. It seems, that they will turn the CC's into movie rental/sales outlets for media and sell electronics to play them on. It sounds like the stores will still have products to compete with BB, but with the rental twist. I think it could become a great idea if their rentals are priced right. They (meaning Blockbuster) already get some sort of discount for all the movies they buy as rentals, let alone all the ones for sale. If you can rent a BD from them for $3, then decide to buy for a competitive price like amazons, that would be great for the consumer. With all the blind buys you guys make, this would save everyone the hassle of trading movies they wished they should have rented first.
