Default Region codes (please help!)

Some time ago I checked out the region codes on the BD's on a website, and compiled a list of the BD's I wanted to purchase in the US whilst visiting there.

Now, I will be playing the BD's on a european PS3, but I was wondering if I was then also able to watch all of the features of the disc, and not just the feature film, as I had read that somewhere.

Please, help me out, as I'm leaving within 18 hours to the US!

Just to be clear, I have checked out which BD's that are available in the US that are confirmed region free. But I have read that while the film might not be region encoded, the extra's on the disc could be, can anybody confirm this?

These are the discs I'm looking to purchase and would like to know if ALL FEATURES are region free:

30 days of night
ACDC Donington
Babel
A Clockwork Orange
Corpse Bride
Departed
Descent
Devil's Rejects
Goodfellas
Hellboy
led zeppelin
Nine Inch Nails
No Country For Old Men
Pirates 1+2
Saw
Saw 2
The Shining
Total Recall
Training Day
Twilight Zone - The Movie
Unbreakable
Underworld

I don't even think that's possible. Everything on the same disc is going to be the same region, I don't see what'd be the point of having them only for special features (well I honestly don't see the point of region codes in general).

I know the SF on both A Clockwork Orange and The Shining work.

If the movie is region free the extras will play on your PS3. I have been importing region free BDs to Ireland for a while now. Just be sure your list is correct.

Lots of misinformation on this thread. You have checked http://bluray.liesinc.net/ to ensure they are region free (not just warner titles)? I have never run into the problem of extras not working, however i have only seen this problem happening when the extras on UK region free discs are in standard pal definition (576/50i) and therefore will not play on US players (eg 'black sheep' and 'Assembly' extras dont work on US bd players).

I think what he means is if there is a second disc. I've heard about this, main disc is fine but the second disc is region locked with all the special features.

Not that simple. Often the Movie is region coded differently to the extras.

USA release of OldBoy - movie is region ABC, extras Region A only
USA release of Blade Runner - movie is ABC, extras discs are Region 1-4 only (not 5,6 or 8)

Also if the extras are in 480p/576p some player wont play them eg Dune (from France) is Region ABC but extras are 576P and wont play on a USA PS3 for example.

There are a few of these exceptions...

Doesn't make any sense to me to apply different region codes to movies on the same disc...but you never know...
Isn't region code more like a "central key" to the entire disc and its content?
Once you have unlocked it, the entire disc with all it's features is readable...?

Oops,

according to "FilmView's" comment its obviously the "you never know" case...
Strange, strange...

FilmView's comment applies to multi-disc editions. So it is possible that a 2-disc set can have only one of the discs region-protected.

USA release of OldBoy - movie DISC is region ABC, extras DISC is Region A only

Hope that is clearer now.

However, I don't think we have ever seen a disc where only part of its content is region-encoded.

All the cases I've heard from have always been US Player not being able to European extras that were in PAL format (and SD resolution). So there shouldn't be any problems with playing region free US releases on a European player.
