Blu-ray? Oh my gawd. Thought I'd have to import this one!

Edit: Hope that price tag comes down a bit....

Excellent! So glad to see another UK TV series hit Blu-ray, but I do hope they will delay the DVD to release it day-and-date, which isn't likely.

This looks like it could be a soapy mess, but I'm still interested to see what all the fuss is about.

I liked this, although as my first experience of a Jed Mercurio show, I found the plot underwhelming. It’s not bad, just not amazingly great either. Seems to be a bit cliched and unoriginal at times, and there were some obvious plot developments, although others weren’t obvious at all. Feels like Mercurio was having an off day when he wrote this.

Might pick it up down the line when it’s cheaper.

Good, thought this would be DVD only like Line Of Duty. When shows as widely acclaimed as Detectorists are left with DVDs, you never can tell what will happen. Hopefully the hugely enjoyable Killing Eve and Hugo Blick's Black Earth Rising will get blus

It's the TV equivalent of some shit novel you buy at the airport, and leave on the plane.

The best and only memorable drama series I've seen from the BBC was Life on Mars (both series with John Simm). It's a masterpiece and one of the best TV shows I've ever seen.

I'm not really in sync with most things the Twitter crowd go nuts over, but from the one clip I saw of The Bodyguard, it looked a step above the usual fare. So I'll remain open-minded about this one.

Cool. I've heard good things about this show, and it'll be good to check out. Though I could watch it on iPlayer for free...

It says it's being released by ITV DVD. Do they regularly release BBC shows, or is this a collaboration?

Good show. Certainly better than the rest of the tripe on at that time of day. Enjoyed the series and how it concluded. Would purchase if I hadn't already seen it (if that makes sense?)

According to the BBC:
“The show has been sold to Netflix by ITV Studios.
That's because the drama was made by production company World Productions, which was bought by ITV's programme-making and distribution subsidiary ITV Studios last year.
World Productions has also made Line Of Duty for the BBC, The Bletchley Circle for ITV and Save Me for Sky Atlantic.
And ITV Studios makes one of the BBC's other biggest hits in Poldark through another of the production companies it has snapped up, Mammoth Screen.”

Full disclosure: I binge-watched this recently in one night, when I was planning to watch it two episodes at a time. I’ve NEVER done this before, so that’s testament to how suspenseful and fast-paced it is.
That said it is absolutely overrated - every so often social media and traditional media converge to ‘lose it’ over a cultural phenomenon so as to feel a collective thrill, and this is a small example. Personally I believe all the ‘loose threads’, ‘open questions’ etc. at the end of the season are in fact less deliberate than directly due to (slightly) sloppy writing. Ironically these have given wind to the idea of multiple future seasons.
Nevertheless a top quality BBC drama - good script, cast and production value - that felt like a cross between The Night Manager and London Spy. Perhaps Homeland. Worth watching for the acting alone.
I would absolutely watch it on iPlayer/Netflix while you can. Definitely not worth a blind buy on Blu-Ray unless at deep discount. I could watch it again in several years as the subject is right up my street, so might buy it in a year if it’s under £12.

The last episode dragged so much I fell asleep, and the twist wasn't anything special.

TV production sure is complicated sometimes Though I'm sure this tangled mess is why we're actually seeing a Blu ray release as the BBC rarely seem to do that for anything but Doctor Who or nature documentaries.

If the idea of Mrs Durrell putting her hands in her knickers is shocking, then yes.
