Default Shooter available again next week

Don't jump on me if this is widely known (because I didn't see a thread here or anything about it in the news section -- even in the "Paramount going to release all the movies it had previously had on BD" as that had no date specifics) but I see that "Shooter" is going to be available again starting next Tuesday (along with nearly all the other BD titles that were out there previously) and I know a lot of folks seem to hold this as the holy grail of BD films.

Info is from someone who has gotten the prerelease for review (his site is kind of scorned here so I won't mention it :>) and is already looking at it so it's fairly solid.

Personally while I did like "Shooter" (as a rental) I won't be buying it because there are far better things available or on the horizon now -- it's one of those "too little, too late" things. The others available ("Untouchables", "MI", etc.) are far better but I already have those.

Hard-to-find-Shooter-Thread is set to become Hard-to-sell-Shooter-Thread.

Luckily there ain't a price match and refund policy on the forums and ebay.

I don't know why anybody would want to sell this movie. Is the BD version going to have lossless audio this time?

It is the same encode, and features nothing has changed.

Thumbs down i will not buy it.

it was a very average movie imo.

there is nothing original about it, the actors don't play so well.

It's a pretty nifty little action flick, and I enjoyed it. I happen to fall in the camp that likes Mark Wahlberg, and think he's come a long way. I know that I'll be picking this up, as I never got around to snagging one before.

An entertaining movie, as I can think of others out there that are much worse.

I'm in the "Mark W is about as good an actor as former male models can get" camp -- to paraphrase the great Dorothy Parker, his acting range runs from A to B -- but I do think he does a good job in Shooter. Indeed, it's one of his few movies I really think is good overall.

But maybe it's just me, but the fact the war is over and the studios are going to be releasing TONS of stuff in the next six months is finally sinking in, and if you spend your money too soon (unless you just have unlimited funds) you'll find yourself in a hole when the good stuff really starts to hit.

My own personal thought is that I won't buy ANYTHING unless it's a must have (something I want to see RIGHT NOW) or a true classic. I'm guessing by the end of the year there will be at least 40 to 50 titles that will fit that description (and let's face it folks, not matter how much you like Marky Mark, "Shooter" isn't one of them).

I might pick up a copy of it now. I rented it and I thought it was pretty good, but not good enough to spent the outrageous amounts people were asking for it.

I'd really be excited about this since I love the movie but I grabbed one before they were pulled from the shelves. Welcome back Paramount.

I saw this on Amazon this morning, alongside 'Black Snake Moan' and 'Disturbia' -- nice to see the Paramount flicks I want finally getting back to prices I can muster.
