DVD Upscaler Question - Blu-ray Forum

I have all the latest updates..but when I go to watch a DVD upscaled in my PS3 it looks REALLY REALLY blurry and distorted. Is there a setting im suppose to switch the DVD Upscaler to? I havent changed anything since I downloaded the update for it ages ago.

Any help would be appreciated

how is your ps3 connected to the tv? component cables or HDMI?

Im using a Monster Cable HDMI.

I listed what I thought looked important lol...

Cinema Conversition - Automatic
DVD Wide Display - Letterbox
DVD Upscaler - Normal
DVD/BD Video Output Format(HDMI) - Automatic.

Hmmm i have mine set the same way and mine looks pretty good. Have you noticed this with a particular dvd or are you noticing this on all dvd's that you are trying to upscale?

some dvd's i have dont upscale at all. my friends dvds for example look really grainy and blurry when i watch them especially t middle series of the show.

Press ▵ while the DVD plays, select AV Settings and there's more to fiddle with there.

Blurry - sounds normal, it's DVD.
Distorted - not normal, but describe how it's distorted.
Grainy - again, a more detailed description would be useful.

I would check SHARPNESS and DNR it could be set too high. Try the settings on the PS3 and TV.

I have not. I plan on watching another movie within the next few days to and to check all of the stuff suggested. The DVD I REALLY noticed was Alpha Dog. Since alot of the scenes take place in the night. I could barely see and it was all choppy and blurred up. It was so terrible I just turned it off.
